What Do I Do With This?

Halloween 2009

,

We made it safely through another Halloween. The house was not egged, tires not slashed, and no trash in the yard. We had a lower number of kids come by despite the fact that there are more in the neighborhood than last year. My wife heard that some people were keeping their kids home for fear of the swine flu. I wouldn't think that would be a problem in that the kids would be outside. It was a nice evening to be out as the last several days have been rainy. I was giving extra candy to those who came later but we still have a lot left. My wife and I certainly don't need candy so we will take the extra candy to work.

We had our friends, Bob & Sue, over for Halloween and had a nice evening. Bob and I spent most of the time watching baseball and looking at his new iPod touch. Rita and Sue sat at the table talking. We enjoyed cheese, crackers, pretzels, popcorn, wine, and beer. We didn't stay up too late even though we would get an extra hour due to the time change.

This evening I have to call the county court to see if I will have to report for jury duty. I got a summons a few weeks ago and tomorrow is supposed to be my turn. I have had to report a few other times but never had to serve. I have a feeling my luck is about to run out.

Trick or Treat

,

We had a beautiful evening for Halloween. Temperatures were in the low 60s with very little wind and no rain. The youngsters came out in large numbers to Trick or Treat. I saw a wide variety of costumes but no especially popular one. A few kids were eager to tell a joke but most simply wanted to get their candy and move on to the next house. There was one young girl who asked what you do with a cricket on your head and I said I don't know but she then did not finish the riddle. I looked over to an older girl with her and she said that is all she knows of the riddle and the older girl didn't know the answer either. If anyone does let me know.
The youngsters were mostly all polite and thankful. I looked around a little this morning and didn't see any evidence of any pranks in the neighborhood. We all had a nice safe Halloween.

Neighbors' Halloween Display

,

My neighbor enjoys Halloween a lot. He puts up his graveyard every year and adds to it from time to time. We had such a nice day outside today so he decided to take advantage of it and put up the display a little early. The kids in the neighborhood enjoy it a lot. I think many adults, myself included, enjoy looking at it too. It looks great at night but I don't have a good enough camera to capture it so I had to settle for this picture taken this evening. My neighbor also has a display in his garage. He has a real casket that you may lie in if you desire. He plays spooky sounds from the house to add to the mood of the display. He usually dresses up while handing out candy. He also has a Halloween party for close neighbors, friends, and family before Halloween night.
