This is a song I really like. The first time I listened to it was last year when I was in the USA. It was in a History class, where the teacher talked a lot about the war, and showed all the students the video of this song, by Metallica.
Every time I listen to it, I remember that class and the story of the man who the song is based on. I think it was a true story, and someone wrote a book about it. I don't remember exactly who that someone is nor the name of the book. I apologize for that.
