The Fixx - Walkabout (1986)

Another underappreciated cracker from the '80s, and probably the British synth-rock (they were too clever for the New Wave tag) band's best album. The songs are not only memorable but mix synth atmospherics with rock dynamics in a solid style reminiscent of INXS's most enduring work. And Rupert Hine's artful production brings a glorious sheen to the sound and a sense of sophistication to the group's more pronounced pop tendencies.
I was lucky to chance upon the CD (now out of print) in the early '90s after listening to the album on cassette for years.
