Some people always think of me as being a ´Little Pain`, as my surname is ´Pain´and I am only 4ft 6inches in my cotton socks. But today I am being a real Pain in the neck....why, might you ask? Well a couple of weeks a go my doctors found a small lump on my neck and today I had it removed. Luckily the lump all seems well, and they think its not the ´C´word, which is great to know.
After the small op today I asked one of the doctors to take a small pic of my lump, so I could come face to face with the lump that has been causing me so much hassle over the last couple of weeks, and could give it a right telling off!
Anyway, I thought it looked like a good lump, one which any person would be proud of, so I thought I would share it.

Due to recent sickness (being stuck in bed for a week with the vomiting virus), I haven't made as much progress on my new renovation project as I would have liked, but so far I have:
-Smashed down a few walls.
-Riped out the upstairs bathroom.
-Put a tarpaulin over the part of the room that leaks.
-Riped out the areas of water damage, so far havent come across any structural damage.
I have added in some pics below:
Friend helping me smash up the kitchen
Tarp I put up myself without going up on ladders...all done with ropes and pulleys!!!
Father-in-law helping me expose the water damaged area
Remains of bathroom after I pulled out the plumbing.

It takes alot for anything to make me really mad, but reading today: http://www.filmmagasinet.no/no/Kult--/Kult-/Kult-KORT-OG-GODT---DVERGFILM/
that they are having a screening a set of films in Norway advertised as 'Short and Good' and includes one film that is in all uncertain terms can be called 'dwarf porn' really makes me mad. People like me and also one of my sons who is a dwarf like me have to deal with daily comments about our size on the streets and this type of screening makes making these comments ok for people to make....I dont know how I can make this screening be stopped but will do everything legally in my power to do so.

The latest version of Opera Mobile for android is now available from Google Play, it was released by Opera earlier this week. Some people ask me why do I intertwine post about being small people with the odd post about the latest release from the Norwegian company called Opera Software...well its because the browsers that Opera makes are the best in the world...but I have to say that, as I work for them.
But seriously I love working for Opera due to the fact of the amazing browsers that Opera releases. What it like being employed as a 'Little Guy' in Opera...well its out of this world, as I am treated just like any Tom, Dick or Harry. Opera itself is an amazing place to work. What makes it so amazing, here are a few pointers:
#1 The People...the people that work at Opera are really passionate about their work, they come to work to make a difference in the world of browsing on the web. People from over 49 different countries search out Opera to work at, so its a truly multi-cultural company.
#2 The lunches...if you have ever worked in the Oslo offices you will all know about the Opera lunches...mmmmmm...roll on lunchtime!
#3 The coffee...we have probably the best coffee machines around, and we get all of our coffee for free. If you are passionate for coffee like me then Opera is the place to be.
#4 I could write a million and one more reasons why I love working at Opera...but now I have actually got to get back to my job and do some work at Opera.

Last week I was talking to an average sized friend about that it was 'Dwarf Awareness Month'. This was a campaign by the USA charity 'Little People of America' to bring about awareness to the struggles and hardship that it can be to be a little guy. My friend said to me 'Are you really a dwarf', I replied 'yes', which means I have done my small bit to make people aware of me and my size

Ellie is she one in a million, or if you look at her condition (the same as mine) she is a one in 26,000

This is a really interesting article. It takes thousands of years for people to take a little guy serious and attractive and then some dumb hollywood magazine has to follow up with mentioning the little guy Peter Dinklage someone who you would date, but not tell your friends about. The following article is a great rebuff to the hollywood article...well done that person who wrote it!!!! Click here to read article

We little people rarely find something we can shout about, but reading this article today saying that little people live longer than taller people did make me laugh

I loved the story of a student house I was told today at lunchtime.
In a student city in Poland, there was a student house full of technical students who loved to drink. One day the students in the house decided that they wanted to start on their own technical project to help with their studies. To accomplish this they decided upon the technical project of a flight to Mars. So the students built their own rocket from the cardboard box from a new washing machine, one of the students volunteered to be the pilot for the mission. The day of the mission people walking by the student house saw a group of students launch the cardboard rocket from the second floor window of the property. As the rocket was only made of cardboard and had no engine system it of course crash landed on the street below. A passer by called the police and ambulance services and luckily they discovered the person in the cardboard space ship only suffered a broken leg, but of course the police wanted to talk to the students in the house to discover why they had done such a thing. The police first knocked on the door of the student house and got no answer, so they decided to break down the door and were amazed to see what they found. Next to the same window was another cardboard rocket with another volunteer inside, and painted on the side of the rocket was 'Rescue Mission, if we are unable to get signal from first mission'

This is a great video about a great family that all have the same condition as me.
Two kids in a great family!

Peter is a real inspiration to me, and I hope in years to come will also be the same to my son, Odin.

Its crazy to make cuts to the people who have the greatest need!

I can't believe that a bar in the UK is trying to tempt customers by advertising that you can party with your own midget! This is so offensive! Imagine if they advertised party with your own blind person!!!! There would be an uproar, so why isn't there an uproar about offending 'little people'. See article below for more details.

Apologizes for not being blogging for a couple of weeks...had some personal stuff that has kept me busy...but watch out my blogs will soon be back.

Its brilliant to be member of the week. The reason I blog on Opera is that Opera is part of my heart and soul.

As this blog is about little people, I thought I would add a pic of My son and Odin. We both share the little persons condition 'achondroplasia'.

To look once is natural as its only human nature to notice something that is different to the norm, but to keep on staring is rude!

Leah is a gorgeous little girl who has the same short statue condition as me, and her family have written a blog about bringing her up. This is something that I really wanted to do for my son Odin, who has the same condition, but I never seem to get the time.

I can not believe that the Norwegian rock band 'Plumb' is going to still be allowed to be involved in this years European Song Contest. Knowing their luck they will win the Norwegian finals and then represent Norway on the European stage. If this happens it will be a sad day for Norway and I can see that Norway will be savaged by the European press, and quite rightly in my opinion. You can not allow the band 'Plumb' that openly made racist overtures to the black Norwegian band 'Madcon' on Norwegian TV, to represent Norway. This is a clear signal to say that 'NRK' thinks that everything is fine as 'Plumb' made an apology. Its a clear signal to people that they can openly make fun of other people in such a bad way as long as they say sorry afterwards. You can learn more by reading the newspaper article by clicking here.

Its great to see another little guy winning such a great award. Not only that he brought the problems of little people to the world stage with his shout out to 'Martin Henderson'. I have met Martin myself, and he is such a nice guy, and I was horrified to learn that someone decided to throw him outside of pub for a laugh, just because he's a little guy. I just hope the police do something about it and find the person who decided it would be fun to cause him injury!

Being a parent myself of a little guy this article was a really interesting read for me, even though I am personally against leg lengthening.

I take my hat off to this lady, and wish I was in a position to sue someone everytime I am made fun of!!!

There are some words when you are small that you hate and for me personally the word 'midget' is one of them. I find it deeply offensive when people shout across the road at me and say 'Oi Midget'!
Monday, December 19, 2011 8:48:57 PM
This guy is a real inspiration to other little people...it just shows that being small shouldn't limit your job prospects.

Found this item on the BBC website, and can actually say that I can relate and agree with the 10 items mentioned.

Whenever I read about dwarf throwing I become sickened. I can not even believe that such a thought to legalize it in the USA would ever happen. Its like sending people in wheelchairs down ski jumps in their wheelchairs for fun!!!! - which would never ever be allowed, as it is equally horrid to think about!
Monday, November 28, 2011 9:17:23 AM
Being a little person myself, this really scares me, the idea of making a dwarf community. For me we are going back to the 19th century where you had dwarfs in freak shows. I can understand why they want to do it, due to having limited options in life if you are small in Manilla, but its not a place in the world that I am going to visit anytime soon!
Monday, November 28, 2011 8:47:02 AM
The below article is an old article, but if I am writing a blog about being small I have to write about the 'Dean' family. They are real trail blazers for the rights of little people in the UK, and they should get more credit than they get.

I felt really mad when I read Warwick comment '"...I kind of understand why Peter Jackson did what he did – there wasn't the range of short actors to fill the roles," says Davis. '
Hasn't he heard of Peter Dinklage!!!!http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/size-matters-warwick-davis-is-no-small-talent-2372841.html
