We're new to blogging so please bare with us during our learning phase
This new week continues to be a growing adventure with our Boston Terriers and their pups
Our pups become 6 weeks old on Wednesday December 5, 2007
Feeding schedule:
For over a week now, they've been adjusting to eating softened puppy feed and at this point they all still nurse a little on the mother. Every litter of pups is different with bostons, some can be completely weaned at 4 weeks while another litter barely's fully weaned off at 8 weeks.
Behavior modification
Raising the voice is our number one method of behavior modification with Boston’s
uh-uhhhhh is the best tool (never fails they learn that one quick)
tap 3 times on the food bowl ='s meal time
5 taps on the floor means come to me.
(even if they're in a dead sleep, they KNOW and react)
HERE COMES TROUBLE
Raising a litter is way different then having just one pup in the home.
The young pups now, more and more like to pick fights amongst themselves(rule of thumb around 6 weeks of age they become little spitfires) they even chase after mom and dad at times when they're bored with each other.
The smaller pups have no problem going after in a tuff way, to the larger pups, matter a fact, rule of thumb seems to be the smallest is the one who challenges everyone.
Anyone who knows the Boston’s personalities, know that we are in their world and they prefer to be with humans over any other animal species…
On The Hunt
Because I know a lot of what to expect from boston pups, I know they like to hunt rather then have toys placed out in plain sight. I place several holding containers in different spots and keep changing where they'll be placed next (keeps their ever expanding mind busy)
They prefer larger sized toys (adult boston sized) over the puppy size (proves they feel the need to be challanged)
Puppy Proofing the HOME again
Just like a new puppy home owner has to puppy proof their ways, I have to do the same in my home. If I can't have the electric cords out of the way, then it's my duty to make sure they don't think those wires are a chew toy item.
DOB 10/24/2007.
Our ever so quick to learn 5 Pups names:
The females:
1. Laura (Croft) smaller female
2. Cinder (Ella) large female (trying to keep a cute name so she’ll get sweeter is nicer).
The males:
3. Tank (because he’s a trooper) small male
4. Barker (Bob) small male
5. Theodore (formally known as AL both from the chipmunks) large male (he’s almost the size of both small males put together
I'm not familure with the blog presets so I'm finding it difficult to add the names to the pictures
So I'm keeping it simple
the order of the names is the order of their pictures
The picture of 3 pups (Theodore is in the middle).
