intestinal parasites can kill a dog, I think anyone that has a pet has full knowledge of this, even I knew this before, but what I didn’t know is the following
Stool samples reports only tell us if there’s worm eggs present in stools, it does not tell us if adult parasites are in our pets (unless one is passed in stool and confirmed).
I use to think every time that when I get a neg stool sample for parasites, it proves I’m keeping my dogs and property “worm free” and the socializing I do with them doesn’t promote intestinal parasites.

I’m correcting myself with the learned knowledge from another situation and will always ask the vet to de-worm my pups and dogs even if the stools come back neg for parasites.
This will be my standing practice as long as I have companion dogs.
Please check with your vet to find out what his/her recommendations or standard practices are for de-worming. I rely on my vets knowledge to aid me in more responsible decision for my pets, but it’s ultimately my choice of what I feel is better.

I let a lady borrow my digital camera to document tapeworm. All stool samples came out neg for intestinal parasites, yet there was an image of stools and 2 tape worm segments. that stool sample came back neg for parasites past the confirmation visually of the tape worm by the vet.
