P.S. There are people spreading rumours about the Cool Viewer inworld. That it saves your password, and that it sends it to the "Lindens". To be honest....yes, this is true. All of it. CV saves your last password locally as every other viewer does, to make your next login more convenient. And....to make it worse....it even sends the password to the "Lindens". Otherwise you could not login into SecondLife *giggles*. Makes sense?!

(28 Sept) Update to RLV 1.12.6

Here is something pretty cool that was missing for a while . The original RestrainedLife Viewer for Linux in version 1.12.6 . I know a lot of people were waiting for this for a very long time. And I hope to make your day with this lil toy, I however can't promise it will really work. Give it a shot, extract it over your Linden Secondlife viewer and start it with "restrainedlife" instead of "secondlife" (both can coexist).

(3 Oct) Update to SL 1.20.17.0 R1 / 1.19.0.5 R31 with RLV 1.12.7, Security fixes included
Again a full Cool Viewer 1.20.17.0 R1 included. Just extract and run! New in this releases:
- FriendshipAndCallingcardOffersIgnoreButton: adds an "Ignore" button to friendship and calling cards proposal dialogs (VWR-4826)
- ExpandedBuildTools: adds a "Slice" setting to boxes, cylinders and prisms, and lowers the increments for path cut and dimple to 0.025 (VWR-7827 and VWR-7877)
- Security fixes of 1.20.17.0, backported to 1.19.0.5


Marine was busy again with 2 RLV updates in a short time. Here are the updated Cool Viewers in the two known versions with and without windlight rendering. If the latest 1.20.17.0 viewer is too resource intensive on your machine, please try the 1.19.0.5 viewer which will be faster. For details about included features and patches please have a look at the txt files in the archive.

As always, you need to install the official Linden client first, then extract the Cool Viewer archive over it and replace all files. Please don't mix versions.

(8 Oct) IMPORTANT: The security fixes of SL 1.20.17.0 were backported to the 1.19.0.5 viewer. Some of the changes made to fix the vulnerability have however broken the compatibility with OpenSim grids. Until OpenSim gets upgraded accordingly, you might want to use the previous release 28 of the Cool SL Viewer:

And as promised before, here is once again a full Cool Viewer, nothing to install, simply extract it into a directory of your choice (default is C:\Program Files\SecondLife). Please note that the following libraries and components are not included in the package as they are not redistributable. To get full functionality please copy them from the official Linden Labs 1.20 viewer:

llkdu.dll (Kakadu JPEG2000 library)
SLVoice.exe (Voice daemon)
SLVoiceAgent.exe
vivoxsdk.dll (Vivox Communications API)

The viewer will still run without them but with lower performance (OpenJPEG) and missing voice features.

Please ignore any update notifications. They are a known bug of the dynamic created start page and affect all 3rd party viewers.

Many of you have big problems with Marine's latest RLV 1.12 crashing on you when using search or anything with the the internal browser. The problem is likely related to the VS2005 compiler. Here is a fresh build compiled with an older version which hopefully should be stable (just replace the .exe file). I'd like to ask you to give it a try and report good or bad results in my blog or per IM. Would also be interesting if someone could try to benchmark Marine's and this version besides the crashes .

Finally the 1.20 viewer went official yesterday after weeks of testing. Not to waste any time, here comes the "official" Cool Viewer 1.20.15 release.

As previously, to install the Cool Viewer you need first to install a full version of the official LL SecondLife viewer:

Then simply extract the content of this archive over the installation and replace all files with the ones in this archive:

This turns it into an Cool Viewer. Please start the CV with the included SecondLife.lnk shortcut.
