I ran SL fine until the recent updates, except for that delay in opening texture picker, find person chooser and open new inventory window that some of us experienced. Well 1.23 fixed that (finally!! after 9 months! ) but then I couldn't enjoy it because I kept crashing. lol. Then I found this viewer. It's a godsend....thank you SO much!
sophie-k # 18. June 2009, 04:19
The fix finally appeared in 1.23.4. So, in other words, pre 1.21 viewers didn't lock up and 1.23.4 doesn't...but i can't use it because it makes me crash too much. So I thought this 1.19 would be fine too since the lockups didn't start till 1.21. Just wondering if the fix implemented in 1.23.4 can be put in this viewer. The info on the cause and fix are at the bottom of this Jira http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8818 .
Can you possibly move my posts to the correct forum? Thanks.

Looks to me it may be some overlapping settings issue when swapping different versions as you posted in the SL Forum and removing that settings.xml file seems to have fixed it?
All of my builds come with an included shortcut .lnk file that defines version/viewer specific settings that should not overlap with an old existing settings file. Please always use CoolViewer.lnk to start the viewer.

hi, I use vista64 and I love using CoolViewer.
worn item and double click wearing helping me a lot.
but my Coolviewer doesn't let me hear any voice chat.
uplording alpha texture(it became 50% transparency),
either wearing skirt(only my skirt goes 50% transparency with cool viewer and it shows to all. not my viewer only. and shows originally 0% transparency skirt part to visible).
boylane # 19. August 2009, 10:46
Regarding transparency, this should be the same as with any other 1.22 viewer. I don't make a version for 1.23 but I know there were issues with layers when switching between 1.23 and 1.22 (and older versions). Try to either run CV on a different machine or reinstall it. That usually fixes it.

The link to CV 1.9.0.5 R59 at top of this blog post is incorrect!
I managed to find the correct link just below it at "Cool Viewers 1.22 / 1.19 with RLV 1.17"

Hello Boylane, yes I agree with CaptJosh - the sl 1.23.4 version is really crap. I have this "broken letter problem" - and only your 1.22 works well. So I hope you will add this adult content code to 1.22, because it is really great.

Hello BoyLane,
I agree with CaptJosh - This SL 1.23.4 is really crap. I have this broken letter-syndrome - and the only working version is your 1.22. So I hope you will integrate the adult content code to the 1.22 version.

I'm not exactly sure if I'm on the latest Cool Viewer version or not, but as of the 'adult' going live a couple days ago searches using it are incomplete. For example... if I search for "RLV" using the latest SL release viewer I get several pages of entries. If I search with Cool Viewer I get maybe half a page. Likewise with any other adult terms. basically any site that is classified 'adult' won't show up in the search.
This is particularly annoying because for whatever reason I lag -really- badly with the latest SL vierwer but Cool Viewer is smooth as silk, so would -really- like it to work for searches.

"The results of your search included adult content that can only be accessed with a verified account. Verifying your account is easy and quick - learn how HERE. If you have trouble verifying, please file a support request HERE. Thanks!"
Already verified, search works as intended in 1.23.4, broken in Cool Viewer 1.22.11 with RLV 1.17 enabled.
Above message is also not displayed in 1.23.4 so something is not being sent with the searches like it is in 1.23.4. =)

The problem is, you cannot activate teh "adult search" option like in the normal sl viewer. So everything "adult" is broken. You don´t find searches with "Fetish" - or a lot of clubs like Twisted Orchid and so on.
I hope so much you can change this - this 1.23.4 is a big problem for lots of people, the whole sl issue tracker is full of "buged letters" issues - and no solution for.

Hi I have a variety of viewers on the same computer and I haven't been clearing caches or anything that would reset as I switch from one viewer to the other -- so any "Adult" settings "should" carry over. I say "should" because LL changed the cache location a while ago. If necessary I can figure out approximately when it was moved. This applies to XP -- but there is a similar change in Windows7 -- I don't have anything running Vista.
All versions still cache individual avatar files at C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Second Life\
The older versions cache everything there.
The newer versions from LL cache the avatar stuff in that location, but the textures and some settings are cached at C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Second Life.
None of that has made any difference to my results with SL -- except that clearing caches is version dependent, and some settings do appear to track within the older group of viewers and others in the newer group. It appears to me that all the third party viewers use the old cache location. The new location only appears after using one of the newer LL viewers. That may be significant in figuring out the difference stemming from the new "Adult Content" fiasco.
To the point of this discussion I have tried searches and other tests to see if I could get different results using the 1.23.4 viewer which runs reasonably well on some machines for me and not wort s**t on others. I tested with one each of avatars that were not adult verified, were adult verified but no payment info, and adult verified with payment info on file.
If I searched adult specific stuff with any viewer but the 1.23.4 I got no "adult" responses -- places, groups, classifieds, or whatever.
Then I looked at some LMs in my inventory. The Adult locations show as "Adult" land in 1.23.4 and as "Mature" in any of the older versions -- right back to Nicholaz OS and Linden 1.18.0.5 (yes I can run it and I get 55 to 65 fps at 128m draw distance on an old Pentium 4). So whatever communication there is is defining Adult as "Mature" pre 1.23.4. The properties of the LM actually show up differently depending on the Viewer. 1.18.0.5 doesn't use the LM style with the picture -- but 1.18.5.3 does and it shows the adult locations as "Mature".
Then I used some known LMs from Adult SIMs to TP to places in Zindra (which aren't visible to any searches for "Places" without 1.23.4) The word Zindra as a place brings 7 PG searches, 8 Mature Searches, 15 both PG and Mature and 102 Adult searches. None of the PG or Mature locations are actually in Zindra btw.
The TP worked -- I could get to the locations as long as the Avatar was Adult verified. However in 1.23.4 the location bar at the top of the screen said "(Adult)" as the location in 1.23.4 and it says "(Mature)" in the older versions. The same locations exactly show differently depending on the viewer used to get there with the same avatar.
The results with my 3 avatars were consistent with the rating of the land. If land was set as "Adult" the two verified Avatars could go there. If Land was set as "Mature" (or "PG") all 3 could go there. If the land included "Payment Info Required" restrictions, then only the Av with payment info on file could go there. No surprises there.
Then I took an adult verified Avie and reset the "Rating" setting to PG in 1.23.4 and logged in. The av previously had a home location in an old Mature Sim. The home location was changed to a PG landing area with hundreds of other confused avatars and horrendous lag. I had to reset the rating, relog, and then tp to the previous home from a LM to set it as home once more. So the lesson there is to ALWAYS have a LM for your home and don't depend on the "TP Home" or "Start at Home Location" functions.
If there is something specific you would like me to try in older viewers give me a shout. I have 25 different working viewers all running on a computer with a P-IV hyperthreaded processor and an NVIDIA Geforce 7300 GT GPU with 512Mb of VRAM. It will dual boot to XP home or Windows 7 Home Premium.
I also have some other clunkers running SL that make that unit look modern I can use for testing, including a couple of G4 Macs.

I don't have access to my superduper desktop for a bit and am using a single core celeron laptop. The main SL viewer crashes a while after installing and then keeps crashing.
I tried Rainbow on it but it just borks on connection and dies.
Should I be using the non-windlight legacy coolviewer?
It's a 1.2 or 1.8 ghz single core celeron with shared graphics and 2gb ram. Nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination....
