Ilse of Whyte Festival 2006 (June 9-11)

Madness! A brilliant weekend to kick off my stay in the UK.

Nick and I left for the Ilse of Whyte on Friday morning, we booked a return
ticket at the local train station and caught the train at clapham junction at 12,
that took us to Portsmouth where we climbed on a bus to the Hovercraft. We took the
hovercraft as niether Nick, nor myself have ever been on one, so we thought we would
try it out, and it only cost 6 quid.It was great!

So we finally landed on the ilse at 13h30 or somewhere around there, quickly went into
the town (Ryde) and got a sandwhich from Subway, then off to the off license for drinks
and then back on a bus to the festival grounds. There was a lot of traffic, so it took
a while.

Then through the gates (smuggling the bottle of jack and bottle of vodka) and then the
hunt for a spot to pitch the tent. There were allready thousands up, and it wasnt looking
good, until nick missioned off and found a space next to a group of guys on a stag weekend.

10 minutes later, the tent was up, we had said our hello's to the neighbours, and we were off to
take a look around.

Everywhere you looked was tents, tents and more tents, thousands of people moving back
and forth, and ques, thats all you seemed to do for the weekend.

we waited a good half hour to an hour to get in the first night, and once through the main arena
gates, had a great time, checking out the various stands and bands, then getting drunk, and stumbling around for 2 hours after the show trying to find our tent. But onve we found it (A miracle) we never lost it again!

It was a continuous bombarment of sound and images, so The festival really took it out of us.

Had a great time at the strongbow - "cider house" where they played more dance music.
Nick also got DJ Lottie to pose for a photo, which we then got a free print of at the Nokia,
(Rock up and Play) tent, this is where I scored a T-shirt,

So yip, I suppose, I came, saw and got the T-shirt.

After 72 hours, we got home having about 15 hours of sleep, not good sleep, more the passout sleep. So I am still very tired while writing this,

Suppose Ill have to come back to it and fix some spelling soon,

Happy thoughts!

Think Ill do it again next year!
