Zombie Invasion

I hate zombies, but for some reason, I like playing video games / watching movies about them. Scares the crap out of me every time, but I get some kind of sick enjoyment from it. Every time I finish playing the game / watching the movie, I can't help but think "what would I do if there was an uncontrollable zombie outbreak right freakin' now?"My answer is generally something like boarding up my doors and windows, finding what food I have available, planning an escape route and thinking about long term survival (food, water, etc). When I think about this stuff, I make a few assumptions about the aforementioned zombie outbreak:
- Power and water supplies (assuming you don't run on an artesian well and do not have your own power generator) will be gone within only a few days.
- Any weapons and/or ammunition will likely to have been already scavenged by other survivors (unless you have your own cache prepared).
- Zombies can only survive off consuming their own bodies or any brains they eat while "undead". I can only assume the lifespan of a zombie is limited to 2 - 3 weeks, maximum.
- Zombies have no interest in non-humans (pets, robots, etc).
Now, in some movies, it seems zombies can't "starve" to death, which indicates they are possibly fueled by some sort of evil energy. However unlikely, if this were in fact the case, any long-term plans of survival without massive preparations for a zombie outbreak would be bleak.
So, if a zombie outbreak were to happen right now, what would you do? What assumptions should you make (which friends / loved ones would you suspect as being the least likely to fall victim, etc).
