The Spirit, The Soul and The Body

You know, we really have to get down to the root. Man is a Spirit that lives in a Body and has a Soul. Get that: You are a Spirit. If God is not a man and we were made in God's image, then we are Spirits.
However, to dwell in this world, we needed a Body. So, God created a Body to house the Spirit which He created. Kinda like a container for a prized possession. The packaging had to be world class. So, we were fearfully and wonderfully made. Yet, the beauty of the container can not be compared to the value of the content - the Spirit inside the Body.
So, how about the Soul? Your Soul is what makes you unique. It differentiates you from every other person. Your Soul is the seat of your emotions, your will, your feelings.
In essence, as you get to surrender to God and know God more, the evidence should be seen in your Soul. When you become born again, your Spirit doesn't change (well, technically). Your Body also remains the same. What then changes? Your Soul. Your emotions should change. You should now be able to control your negative emotions of Fear, Anger, Worry, Doubt, Malice, Hatred, the list goes on. You should now desire the things that God desires for you. You should now feel differently about yourself and others. This is what should inform your every action afterwards.
Why then do we still struggle with these emotions, despite surrendering to Christ?
