BUREWALA: The administration has set up a Sasta Bazaar at Goal Chowk where daily use items will be available at cheap rates while they will work thrice in a week.
This was stated by Assistant Commissioner Saifullah Sajid here on Friday. He said that on the special directions of the Punjab government, Sasta Bazaar would be set up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week and local administration had finalised arrangements to provide daily use items to the masses at cheaper rates. He said that the TMO would arrange tents for the bazaars and monitor cleanliness of the bazaars while Agriculture and Livestock departments would contact with traders for provisions of vegetables. Meanwhile, the district and tehsil prices committees have also been formed to monitor and control prices of daily items while price control magistrates have been nominated to check and control prices of commodities.

Dr accused of taking money for verifying Nadra form
BUREWALA: Burewala THQ Hospital doctors and other staff allegedly maltreated two journalists for protesting against a doctor for allegedly taking fee to verify a CNIC Nadra form from a local businessman and registering a bogus case against the journalists here on Tuesday.
Trader Rana Ghulam Murtaza sent one of his employees to get a CNIC Nadra form verified from a doctor in the hospital. Duty doctor Zafarullah verified the form after allegedly receiving Rs 100 from the trader’s employee. But Nadra officials refused to accept the form as it did not have the cellphone number of the doctor who verified the form. The man again approached the doctor and requested him to write his cellphone number on the form, but he refused to do so and asked the man to leave the hospital. When journalist Shahid Akbar approached the doctor and told him that he took the money from the man illegally. The doctor maltreated the journalist and informed Medical Superintendent Rana Muhammad Akram and other senior doctors who threatened the journalist to lock him in a room. Later, the doctors and other staff gave up their work to protest the incident and blocked a road by parking private ambulances on both sides of the road which stopped traffic. In the meantime, Press Club Director of Programmes Mian Tariq Mehmood was passing through the road on his car when the protesting doctors and other staff intercepted his car and maltreated the journalist. They also damaged his car. Model Town Police, on the complaint of doctors, registered a case against the journalists and on the complaint of trader Mian Tariq Mahmood the police also registered a case against 60 doctors, Para-medical staff and ambulance drivers. Meanwhile, journalists and media organisations condemned the doctors and staffers and demanded of the CM and Vehari DPO to take action against them for maltreating journalists. Journalists held a meeting at Burewala Press Club where president Ahmad Wasim Sheikh and members of Sahuka Press Club, Goggo Mandi Press Club, City Press Club and senior journalists including Nadeem Mushtaq, Asghar Ali, Rao Munawar Ahmad, Abdul Latif, Ijaz Ahmed, Irfan Shah, Ch Asghar, Ijaz Ahmed, Talib and a large number of journalists condemned the doctors’ alleged misbehaviour.

BUREWALA: The business organisations of Burewala have expressed their pleasure over the restoration of train service of Baba Fareed Express between Lahore and Karachi. They warmly welcomed the train crew and passengers at local railway station. Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq on the demand of local MNA Chuadhry Nazir Ahmad Arain and business community restored Baba Fareed Express route from Lahore to Karachi. Earlier, it was running between Pakpattan, Samasatta sections and the number of passengers had declined as they had adopted other means of travelling. When the train reached Burewala railways station, local traders and politicians welcomed the train crew and garlanded them. They also distributed juice packs to the passengers. The local traders and citizens thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq for the restoration of the service. BUREWALA: An infant was killed while other of the same family injured here. According to details, a speeding tractor trolly collided with motorcycle when he was going to Arifwala with his family, as a result, a minor Muhammad Adeel was died on the spot while Mustafa and his wife were sustained injuries.

BUREWALA: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday laid a foundation stone of Faisalabad Agriculture University Sub-Campus at Chak No. 427/EB Chichawatni road Burewala, the project is spread over 153 acres and will be completed at the cost of Rs 541.373 million rupees and initially in 2012-13 Rs. 49.987 million has been released and project will be completed in three years time.
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony at Chak No. 427/EB Chichawatni road Burewala,, the chief minister said that sub campus will help the youth to learn modern agricultural techniques to enhance the productivity of the different crops and crops maximization projects will help farmers to increase their yield and thousands of students will take benefit of this project. He said that sub campus will turned in to university after passing it different stages. Later addressing a huge crowd at government college ground Burewala Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Shairf blamed the federal government for the energy crisis in Pakistan; Shahbaz Sharif said that President Asif Ali Zardari had abandoned the people to suffer from unemployment and poverty for five year. He said the biggest problem in the presence of President Zardari was that the assets of Pakistan were in a single hand. “In such circumstances, a country cannot be expected to move in the direction of economic growth,” he added. He said that when he was inaugurating metro bus service project, the same day Zardari was inaugurating the Bilawal House in Lahore.
He said those who did not live in the hearts of the people could not find peace in their bunkers. Shahbaz Sharif said that Turkish investors invested in Punjab government projects but they remained away from federal government because of the malpractices in the federal government. Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government started mega projects all over the province. Punjab government established 16 Danish School in the southern Punjab where the children of the poor are getting quality education with free books, uniforms and accommodation which is unmatchable to any other modern institutions. He said that Vehari industrial state will be established and more than 15 thousand people will get jobs as only government could not provide jobs as it is heavy burden on national quadrature. Sharif said that we have given 8 lac laptops to the shining students on merit and now started Ujala program to enlighten their educational careers. He asked to public to vote Nawaz Sharif in forth coming elections and promised with the crowd that if their government come in to power after next elections they will end load shedding problem in two years.

Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan Vice Chancellor briefed the chief
minister. He said that the UAF is top ranked university of the country and one
of the only two Pakistani universities which are ranked in top 300 universities
of the world. He said that sub campus would provide an opportunity of
agricultural education to the local youth at the affordable cost to address the
issues of growers and industry. He said that setting up the campus in the far
flung areas of the province is the need of the hour. Keeping in view, the
University plans to open the sub-campus at Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Sialkot,
Mandi Bahudn and Khushab. He quoted an example of University of California and
Florida which has atleast ten campuses. He said that Ludhiana Agriculture
University is operating seven sub campuses in the Indian Punjab. The sub campus
will focus on cotton, mango, neeli /ravi buffaloes, and agro based SME in the
region. He said to inform the farmers about the latest practices, a FM radio is
working at the main campus whereas the UAF is mulling opening a TV channel for
the farmer community. He said that we are also working on mobile plant
diagnostic lab for the welfare of farmers. He praise the Chief Minister for the
promoting the educational sector in the province.

BUREWALA : Mian Muhammad Ashfaq a retired assistant food controller and cousin of PML (N) leader Nazir Ahmad Arain was allegedly shot dead by assailants at his dera in Chak No. 405/EB Wednesday midnight. Reportedly Mian Muhammad Ashfaq aged 58 years was asleep at his dera in village 405/EB when in midnight some unknown assailants shot him dead and fled away, hearing about the firing people of the area gathered and found Mian Muhammad Ashfaq dead body there. The matter was reported to the police who cordoned off the area and registered a case under section 302/34 PPC and started investigation. His funeral prayer was offered at his village and was attended by the peoples from different walks of life.

BUREWALA: A police constable has been arrested and charged for making a threatening telephone call to Interior Ministry. According to the DPO Vehari, police have confirmed that the police constable was traced for making the threatening call and has been arrested.DPO Shakir Ali said that the constable Tariq Mehmood has also confessed to his crime after which case has been registered in against him Model Town, Burewala police station under the telegraph act. The accused in his statement said that in a bid to trap another constable he had activated a mobile sim on his colleague’s name but he was traced for using his own mobile phone.

BUREWALA: A road mishap occurred here on Thursday, leaving two people dead and eight others injured. According to the police, the incident took place when a passenger van moving from Burewala to Chichawatni collided with a tractor trolley at chak number EB 429, resultantly driver Muhammad Ashraf and a passenger Muhammad Irfan died on the spot while other eight passengers sustained injuries.The injured people were taken to tehsil headquarter hospital. Doctors said that the condition of two injured passengers is critical.

BUREWALA: The people of both sides of Punjab are attached to each other regarding love for their motherland, while Pakistani Punjab’s people have always shown unforgettable hospitality towards Indian guests. This was stated by former MLA Sardar Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, son of Indian Punjab Assembly Speaker Sardar Charanjit Singh Atwal, while visiting his ancestors’ village, 251/EB, here on Wednesday night. His brother Jasjeet Singh Atwal, friends Sardar Joginder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Vicky Bhal, Jasjeet Singh Sahota, Karan Pal Singh and Taran Joshi also accompanied him. The 500 Indian yatrees are visiting Pakistan to mark the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal said that his father had great affection for his birthplace. “My father has served as Indian Parliament Lok Sabha deputy speaker and now serving as speaker of the Indian Punjab Legislative Assembly, which is indeed honour for our family,” he said.
The former MLA said that his father was a student at the school village. “I have been constantly in touch with the people of 251/EB.” He expressed his concern about the poor condition of the village roads and demanded the local MNA develop it after declaring it a model village. MNA Chaudhry Asghar Ali Jatt said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s Indian visit had opened new era of friendship between two neighbouring countries. “This visit has speed up the peace process between both countries. People-to-people contact will help remove misconceptions between both nations,” he said. He said that the Pakistan Government was committed to liberalise the visa regime. He announced Rs 2.5 million for the renovation of the village roads. He said that a scheme to supply clean drinking water was already underway. Burewala grid staff made hostage;Vehari Mepco complex ransacked, record burnt, MNA, MPA’s offices attacked
BUREWALA: Local traders observed a complete shutdown against 22-hour loadshedding of electricity, took out a rally and made the grid station staffers hostage to register their protest here on Thursday.On the call of the Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran, all markets, bazaars, shopping centres and plazas remained closed. Former provincial minister Nazir Ahmad Arain, Vehari Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran president Muhammad Jameel Bhatti, Burewala Industrialists Association president Muhammad Saghir Ramay, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Youth Wing president Manzoor Barkat and others took out a rally which was attended by political and social workers, students and traders.After marching through different bazaars, the protesters reached in front of the grid station on Chichawatni Road where the protesters attempted to enter it, but the police stopped them from entering the grid premises.However, some people managed to sneak into the offices and made the staff hostage by locking the office. Some protesters also burnt tyres in front of offices of Pakistan People’s Party MPA Khalid Saleem Bhatti and MNA Asghar Ali Jatt. They also chanted slogans against the government and parliamentarians. In Gaggo Mandi, some protesters burnt the office of the MNA Asghar Ali Jatt. The protesters demanded an end to 22-hour loadshedding.
VEHARI: People turned violent during a protest against power loadshedding in the city on Thursday.
A mob entered the Mepco complex after breaking the windows and burnt the record, furniture and computers. The protesters also burnt a jeep, five motorcycles and 10 bicycles. They also attacked the offices of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA Tehmina Dultana and burnt the record and furniture. They also pelted the house of former tehsil nazim Mian Saqib Khurshid with stones. They also burnt motorcycles and others equipment at the office of MPA Tahir Iqbal and Vehari Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf district president Tahir Anwar Wahla. The protesters also tried to enter the DPO office but policemen opened fire on them. As a result, three protesters were injured. The District Bar Association also observed a complete strike to express solidarity with the public.

BUREWALA: A girl, who went missing four days ago and found in a critical condition on Saturday, died at THQ Hospital. 17-year-old Kiran Shahzadi, daughter of the late Saeed Ahmad and a resident of 127 M Block, Burewala was married to her relative in Multan on February 24, but she got divorce from her husband on March 3. Now she was living with her mother. Kishwar Bibi, the victim’s mother, said that she had gone to bring breakfast for her family four days ago, but she did not return home. She alleged that Waqas, son of Muhammad Asghar, had allegedly taken her away on the promise of contracting marriage with her. She said that they received a call from Kiran who asked them to meet her in the same locality. She said that when they reached the place, they found her in a critical condition and she had been administered poisonous material. She said that they shifted her to THQ Hospital where she died. The City police have registered a case and started investigations.
Teacher accused of fracturing student’s arms
BUREWALA: A man has accused a teacher of fracturing the arms of a class five student for not listening to her in the classroom.In a press conference, Hanif Muhammad said that Fareeha Fatima of Government Girls Primary School, Majeedabad had fractured his daughter Asia Bibi and the doctors had confirmed the torture.Mudassar Hussain Shah advocate, the teacher’s brother, claimed that the headmistress was involved in the conspiracy against his sister as she nurtured a grudge against her. He said that the Education Department had held an inquiry into the matter and found the headmistress guilty.

BUREWALA: Police Wednesday claimed to have busted a gang of kidney sellers and arrested its eight members, including two proclaimed offenders. Talking to journalists, Burewala DSP Mazhar Ahmad said the police on the special instructions of Vehari DPO Vehari Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi launched a drive against the most wanted criminals and arrested eight members of a kidney-sellers gang, including ringleader Nazir Ahmad alias Naziri. The other members are: Muhammad Ashfaq, Muhammad Riaz of Karampur, Muhammad Ashiq of Chak 20/WB, Muhammad Latif Jatt of Muslim Town, Vehari, Ghulam Shabbir of Bilal Colony. The police recovered a car (LED-4751), two motorcycles, cattle and weapons from them. The DSP said Muhammad Ashfaq alias Shaqi and Nazir alias Naziri were involved in removing kidneys by administering intoxicants through injections and had sold the kidneys of 35 people. He added that the criminals used to hire cars on rent and after intoxicating the drivers took away to unknown place and removed their kidneys for their sale in tribal areas.

BUREWALA: Three people, including two boys, were killed in jubilant firing during a marriage function at Chak 285/EB on Monday.Reportedly, the barat of Majid Hussain, a resident of Chak 198/WB, came to the house of Muhammad Aslam. When it reached the village, some drunkard marriage participants, including Muhammad Shafiq, Muhammad Iqbal Hanjra, Muhammad Bashir and Mazhar Hussain, started firing in jubilation. As a result, class 10 student Zeeshan and class 3 student Muhammad Nadeem were killed on the spot while Abid Hussain, a barati, was seriously injured. Abid was rushed to the Vehari DHQ Hospital where he also succumbed to injuries.After getting information about the incident, police encircled the village and arrested 17 people, including groom’s brother Mumtaz Hussain and their father Muhammad Yaseen Bhutta, Muhammad Shafiq, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Bashir and Mazhar Hussain. The police also recovered seven illegal weapons from them. The police have registered a case and started investigations.

BUREWALA: The Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran established a hunger strike camp against unscheduled loadshedding and an increase in the petroleum prices on College Road. Speaking on the occasion, Vehari Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran district president Muhammad Jameel Bhatti and secretary general Muhammad Saghir Ramay said that they would observe a strike if the loadshedding duration was not reduced immediately in two days. The protesters chanted slogans against the 20-hour unscheduled loadshedding in the area. Vehari DCO Ihsan Ahmad Bhutta, Burewala AC Manzoor Ahmad Khan Chandio, former provincial minister Nazir Ahmad Arain, Nisar Ahmad Waqar, Mepco Deputy Manager Malik Ashfaq Ahmad Awan, Assistant Manager Ghulam Rasool Sukhera and others also visited the camp. They said that they would convey their demands to the authorities concerned.

Waterborne diseases up in Burewala
BUREWALA: People are contracting water-borne diseases due to consumption of contaminated water and the faulty sewerage system. They told The News that the Punjab government in collaboration with the World Bank had launched a project to provide clean drinking water and dispose of sewage and Rs 122.49 million was approved by the chief minister on May 28, 2007. They added that the project had been abandoned after the Punjab government stopped the funds. They said that the people were suffering from various diseases due to consumption of contaminated water and poor sewerage system. They demanded the chief minister to provide funds for the project.
BIKER DIES ON ROAD: A motorcyclist was killed while his fried injured in a road accident on Lahore Road.Rehmat Ali Ansari, a resident of Chak 255/EB, with his friend Qari Nazir Ahmad was coming to the city on a motorcycle (LHE-8621). When they reached near Shah Faisal Colony on Lahore Road, a speeding truck hit them. Rehmat Ali died on the spot while his friend was seriously injured and shifted to THQ Hospital. The truck driver managed to flee. The police have seized the truck and started investigations.
2 SURVIVE ACCIDENT: Two people survived miraculously in a collision between a car and a train near Chak 261/EB.Special Branch Inspector Muhammad Altaf Warraich and his friend Muzamil Hussain were coming from Chak 313/EB on their car (LRR-43) when it was hit by Fareed Express. As a result, the car was completely destroyed. However, both the car riders remained unhurt.

BUREWALA: Five people were killed and 13 others injured in a collision between a coaster and a truck on Lahore Road near Chak 217/EB on Friday. A coaster (LZJ-7011) carrying wedding guests was going to Minchanabad from Dunyapur when it collided with a truck. As a result, Khursheed Ahmad, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Javed, truck driver Muhammad Ashraf and Ghulam Raza were killed on the spot while Ismail, Ashfaq, Rafiq, Ashraf, Boota, Yaqoob, Fareed and others were injured. The injured people were rushed to a hospital.
