What on earth?

Just been listening to the news while I had my tea and heard about the aid worker in Afghanistan murdered by the taleban for "spreading Christianity". She'd been working for a charity that helps disabled kids. Now I don't know what it was that she'd done specifically (if anything) that upset the nutters who killed her, but the thought occurs that if the taleban spent more time helping make people's lives better like the woman they killed instead of engaging in murder, violence, sexist oppression and spreading their own particular brand of joyless, miserable "religion", then perhaps Afhanistan might have been a better place and the people happier and less inclined to harbour the likes of Bin Laden in the first place. Islam isn't universally joyless and miserable: one song of the late, great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is enough to remind you of that. Why people even give the time of day to the Puritan anti-everything-enjoyable tripe peddled as Islam by the likes if the taleban beats me completely.
