Heard yesterday from a friend about Mick Karn dying of cancer. Really sad: he was only 52 and ended up struggling for money for medical bills and to support his family. Makes me a little mad that someone that talented, who produced such great music, ended up struggling like that while others make vast amounts of cash peddling manufactured substandard trash.
I really loved his bass playing, that lovely loping fretless style that managed to be both fluid and percussive. Currently listening to Titles, his solo album he did just after Japan split, and Glow World, a track off Bill Nelson's Chimera album which he played on.
