For over two decades, Dr. John Douillard has been teaching Ayurvedic medicine, nutrition, and natural health and fitness. Along with Deepak Chopra, he co-directed an Ayurvedic clinic for cancer for eight years. He's also trained over 2,000 doctors from the West in Ayurvedic medicine.
Dr. Douillard feels passionate about aiding people in healing their minds and bodies in order to naturally restore balance in their lives. As an Ayurvedic practitioner, his view of the body and what health means is radically different than mainstream Western medicine.
When John went to an Ayurvedic lecture in 1979, he was looking for that zone athletes can achieve during sports, where they feel elated and maximized. He found out that there was a secret formula to this, and what began as a hobby transformed into a calling. This formula is what John calls the 'coexistence of opposites,' and involves experiencing both composure and dynamic activity simultaneously.
John recognized that if he trained less, he could accomplish more. As a professional tri-athlete, the source of his activity was actually rest.
Excited about that concept, he started training athletes on the principle that you can accomplish anything if you first establish silence. In turn, this led him to realize that if you can do it in exercise, you can do it in life. That spun off into an understanding of spiritual life. Through this you can unravel all the stress-mental, emotional and physical-disarm the protective nervous system, and let out who you really are.
Ayurvedic medicine is a system of medicine designed to help bring a person back into balance so his body can have the clarity to employ its own healing system to heal itself. Rather than speak the language of disease, an Ayurvedic diagnosis gives information about the underlying imbalances of what the body is trying to heal, the priority system of the body. We need to facilitate that so our bodies can reinstate their ability to heal themselves.
Teaching people to use Ayurvedic medicine in order to grasp the spiritual transformation that can happen when we look beyond the physical is Dr. Douillard's passion. He feels his calling is as a servant to help people, and he is committed to continuing to develop his abilities to this end. As he teaches others to do the same, his hope is that these will shine their light on others who, in turn, will transform to affect still more people. In this way, we can change the world.
John Douillard has a markedly different view of the body and what health means. If youd like to discover the one root cause of all ill health, as well as how to insure good health through prevention, visit this link to hear the John Douillard interview.Cary Pediatrics: Cary Doctor
