Royal Canadian Institute Lectures

The first one I saw was, "Losing the Buzz: The Disappearance of Bees and Why it Matters" by Laurence Packer, Ph.D. from York University. I came away knowing a lot more about bees and other pollinators that I thought I would ever know. He mentioned that only a small portion of bees live in hives, work hard and produce honey.
The second talk was given by Myrna and Andre Simpson, "Using Big Magnets to Understand Environmental Contamination". Their work at the University of Toronto is to use very large magnets to study how contaminants bond with soil and hopefully how to clean up soil that has such contaminates.
These lectures eventually are posted on the Royal Canadian Institute's website at www.royalcanadianinstitute.org. Also http://www.psych.utoronto.ca/users/rci/Lectures.html
Certainly a great site to check out!
