, , , ...

Dear All,

On Saturday afternoon, I got a call from my former lecturer asking me to give a presentation to replace a speaker that was unable to attend the event. The event is IPB Searching Competition (ISC) 2011, that was held on 25 September 2011 Sunday morning. Wow, I immediately said yes because this was chance to come back to my campus.
My session was after the searching competition has been completed, participants are quite a lot more than 60 people plus committee member.

(I will miss my OCC Opening slide, the event would be my last presentation using this slide.. cry )
My presentation was more about search engines and its benefits then about Opera Software, Opera products and Opera Campus Crew.

I gave an Opera black tshirt 'Join the biggest band on Earth' to the lucky participant who has answered questions about Opera correctly.

Taking picture together with several participants after accomplish my session.

A certificate frame from event committee, Thanks up

DISTRIBUTION OF FLYERS PLUS FLLOW UP INSTALLATION

We the OCC members here in the Premier University of Ghana, planned of distributing flyers to students specifically first year students who reported late this semester. As a matter of that, we were able to distribute opera browser flyers to the first year student at points of their manual registration on campus when they arrived early this month.
Not only that, but we followed up on them to some hostels to do some installation and distribute some flyers.
I had the previledge of standing out to explain to them what it means to use opera browser and opera mini on phone. i was also able to answer some questions as well. These students well happy to see opera browser on campus and really appreciated it.
It did not only end up there but, I also took it upon my self by installing opera browser for my other colleague when we go for Computer science practicals at the lab.... i hope i won't stop here, but will still keep on installing for other students during lab sessions and on all the computer science department's computers as time go on..........

we distributed all the flyers we had and visited some rooms as well,

members: the activity was led by Ofori agyeman i, and assisted by eric owusu,David kwao, Clement boadi and some new recruits(i.e Ankrah Daniel and Daniel Ofori)

CL-9 With Opera Browser Installed (I.T. Block)

Its Holiday season in India this week. Since i didn't turn back home and stayed in college, i and a few friends of mine decided to make use of this free time to setup Opera Software on one of the College Labs of Arya College of Engineering and I.T., Jaipur, Rajasthan. This is my first Campus Crew Activity.

We have a dual boot systems so we have setup Opera on both Windows as well as Linux Distributions installed on our systems (Double Work... but yeah worth it smile).

Opera has been my first choice for surfing the Internet on my mobile since many years now (I wonder did i ever turn to any other browser while accessing web from my cell phone.) And now i use opera on my Desktop as well... not just because of its speed but it looks so damm elegant smile Will conduct a session with freshies and sophomores once the Dusherra vacations are over. MY FIRST ACTIVITY- INTRODUCTION OF OPERA AMONG STUDENTS

Hi,I am Nitish Arora,OCC from University School Of Information Technology(USIT),Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University(GGSIPU),Delhi,India.I organised a small session on Opera Browser Introduction among students of hostel of my college and some other associated colleges as well.I made a small ppt for them consisting of features of Opera Browser and I took help of the website for info on this. As almost all of them were new to using Opera as browser so it was easy for me to make them understand new thing and let them experience the power of Opera. The presentation was shown to them which was quite basic to make them aware of features of Opera Browser as the beginning.

And as the result many of them installed Opera in their computers the same day and experienced something better. And they are happy using it.
I also gave the basic presentation in my college technical events(But could not arrange of the pics of those events bcz college faculty didn't allow me to do so).
Pics of Opera Browser With cool graphics installed on pc of those students.

The ppt which i presented to them is attached.

I would love to work with Opera in future as well with great enthusiasm and it would be a good learning experience for me.

Thank You,
Regards

Installing Opera in College Labs

, , , ...

jester drunk party wizard We are a team of OCC from VIT UNIVERSITY (Vellore)[/SIZE], INDIA. Ours is a big university with about 18000 students belonging to different streams such as Computers, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, etc. Also, they run under several courses such as B.Tech, B.Sc., M.S, MBA, etc.

It so happened that a new building’s construction got over in our college known as the ‘Silver Jubilee Tower’ (SJT). This building was christened in order to commemorate the 25 years completion of our university academic record in which we received and created several national and international accolades and records. This building is dedicated solely to the two departments –

School of Computing Sciences (SCSE)
School of Information Technology (SITE)

As the completion of the building happened, all our labs were shifted from the older building to this new one.
Some of the prominent and reputed labs present in this building (SJT) are-

Internet and Web Technologies Lab
Cryptography Lab
Networking Lab (CISCO)
Advanced Computing Lab
Database Research Lab

A total of more than 10 labs for students to work during their courses to fulfill practical requirements are present to facilitate us.

Our OCC team took an initiative to approach the administration and get Opera installed on all the systems.

Several objectives of this program were:

1. To promote the excellent browser from Opera.
2. To make students and faculties aware of how to use Opera browser.
3. To provide them a tool for their day to day functioning at labs and opt for alternatives to the primitive Internet Explorer trend that was prevalent till now.
4. To promote a feel of Opera and their products and to expose an entire unknown society to it.

The step was welcomed warmly by the administration and college authorities. They took keen interest in doing the needful and installing Opera on all the machines.

Note: It may be noted that due to certain administrative and cyber-security concerns, all the installing work was done by the staff and we were allowed to take pictures afterwards for the blog.
Also, the work happened over long period of time so we are updating it only now over the Blog.
Students’ response:

The response to the new browser has been encouraging with most of the students now using Opera as their default browser while logging in. They say, its far better and faster than Internet Explorer which they were forced to use till now and even the FTP and Intranet sites which were not totally compatible with it are now fully functional with Opera.

Thanks to Opera, we are our college heroes once again…!!!

Following Students were active during this event from our college:
