Life Minus Father - I

My Family sans father. It was April 9, 2005 the day my dad left this world. The following days and weeks passed so fast I do not know what to make of them. It was really so fast. My dad was flown to Manipur where after consulting my uncles and cousins it was agreed that my dad would be laid to rest in the cemetery where my grandma, his mother was also laid to rest.
Though I could not go since my wife was expecting; my mom and younger brother went and attended the burial ceremony. Hundreds of people were waiting them at the Imphal (capital of Manipur state, India)Airport and scores of vehicles were accompanying them home from airport. It was an unexpected love and respect of people from every walk of life who my dad in his small and humble way had always tried to work for.
While my wife and I stayed in New Delhi, I had to tackle the most important aspect of the accident that befell my family apart from losing my father; income. Where can I work? What job can I hold? Will I if I did get a job support the family? I was then still in College. So, with no Degree to speak of it is simply said not easy to get a job more so a job which will support a family in New Delhi city.
Surprisingly and unexpectedly I got through the first interview without any difficult and in less than a month's time I got a job! God helps those in need, indeed!
It was those dark days when I really saw the meaning of friends and relatives. Being brought up in different parts of India (Assam, Meghalaya, Bangalore, I was born in Calcutta)etc we were never close to relatives who are in Manipur, Mizoram and some in neighbouring Burma. Family friends from all over India would call and share our grief. Some from even Europe, North America and Australia. If only my dad was here to receive the calls and read the letters and email! Tears of joy would surely flow down his cheeks!
So as I said I got a job in a transcription company where I am till today and doing well and happy. I have not completed my studies or rather have not continued yet but it will be a priorty in my life. Life has always been full of ups and downs for us but our good God never fails us! If my family has food to eat and a rented house to find shelter in, it is only because of HIS Grace and Mercy! Praise HIM all ye nations!
