Untold things

Recently something Sessy has said to a first year caught my attention : there are many things that happened on this campus but you will never hear about, unless you ask. Oh yes, that is very true - but I didn't actually realize that until I heard it verbalized. And actually, sometimes I even forgot that those things were going on this time last year.
It strikes me with the thought of how easily something can become history - whatever has happened is history. Next year when we second year all graduated, and the year after when all the people who were pre-IB last year also do, this part of history I'm talking about will not likely to be known of. And it will have been just three years - imagine how inaccurate and obscure human history must be.
These things are not top secret or whatever, but people will never attempt to converse about them, unless they are asked. So if the first years know what's the right thing to ask - which is not very likely - they'll get something. And if they, either by chance or by intelligence, know whom to ask, they'll get more.
Good? Bad? I don't know. It's like asking me whether I'm glad that I studied Heart of Darkness.
