My Opera is closing 3rd of March

If you're Vietnamese in the age of 13-25 - take my survey!

Dear mọi người,

We, Mai Doan (Hendrix), KPNam (Colgate University) and Cat Thu (MIT) are working on a project which aims to establish an online newspaper for Vietnamese youth. As Nam said before, we are no professional journalists, no PhDs, no philosophers, but we share the same passion to empower Vietnamese youth by inspiring them towards a greener, more responsible lifestyle and assisting them with their careers. We believe that as long as that passion lasts, we will always have something to offer.

Many of us wake up everyday thinking 'How am I going to get into that school/that job?", "How am I going to be THIS kind of successful person?", "How is life over there of all those kids studying abroad?".
We get out of bed, go to school, find in no time a variety of newspapers, teenage magazines for entertainment purpose then go to bed again having those questions unanswered.
This is where we can help. As a not-for-profit newspaper, we'd like to bring you what you need. We don't want some profit-guaranteed articles, we just want our passions fulfilled.

There is something we all acknowledge but often times unconsciously let it fall into oblivion. We are too busy to finish our papers, study for the coming exams, get a 2400 on the next SAT and whatnot to remember the fun and the 'luxury', I might add, of reading a good piece of writing - written from a person's lifetime experience and not for profit. Or to many of us, talking to a street vendor may be just as inspiring, rewarding, and fun as talking to an influential leader. Each person's life is another whole world to learn. Acknowledging and embracing that value, we (Nam, Thu and Mai) would like to share it with you through our newspaper.

Many of us nowadays kill time or stay up-to-dated by resorting to some well-known tabloids. Yes they are fun to read, too. Fun as it is, but where is the 'luxury'? Where is the appreciation of good journalism and beautiful choices of words? Can't say I feel inspired after grinning at the computer screen over the astoundingly different look of a hot girl without make-up, or feeding my curiosity by following some celebrity's scandalous life. We know it's not worth reading, yet we still check it zealously everyday, sometimes criticizing how corrupting the world has become.

How did this happen? It all comes down to one thing: the lack of a not-for-profit newspaper - a newspaper which don't just write things that sell.

We can't say that there aren't other sources out there that will fulfill this lack. Nevertheless, we would like to provide, or contribute something that is more accessible. And with your help, we know we can make this happen.

Below is the link of the survey we are carrying out to get your opinions. The survey only takes 2 minutes (19 questions) so please help us by filling it and passing it on. Every word of yours weighs greatly to us and will be seriously considered.

You know what you want and what you need for your academic interests, career, personal life and whatnot, and we would like to bring them to you. Just let us know.

Thanks guys for your time.

Best,

Hi. I've just bumped into your notice on Vietabroader. What a pity the survey has been closed, while I really want to share my opinion on your newspaper. Making a responsible newspaper of that type is also my dream. I've always wanted to connect more thoughtful and aspiring people from every corner o but I'm turned off by my lack of journal expertise and experience sad

Good luck with your project and if you need any help, I'm always available.
