- Blair and Straw disagreeing on Iran. "Officials at both the Foreign Office and Downing Street privately acknowledge the difference of emphasis between the two men. Mr Blair has shown signs of exasperation with Mr Straw's cautious approach, giving rise to suggestions that the foreign secretary's focus on ruling out military action is intended to heal the breach with Labour MPs upset over the Iraq war." Straw believes in carrots, Blair believes in carrots and sticks. Exasperation ensues.
- Bush calls attack on Iran "wild speculation." But: "We do not want the Iranians to have a nuclear weapon, the capacity to make a nuclear weapon, or the knowledge about how to make a nuclear weapon."
- Indymedia contributor asks Muslims to nuke Washington D.C. "That’s where the rulers abide, where all plots of Christian terrorism are hatched, where the terrorist plotting to kill your people and steal your land originates. That’s where you need to bomb; those are the folks you need to kill." "We denounce the Christian terrorism of the rulers in Washington DC. We welcome you to 'have at them.' I’ll buy you a beer at Roger’s Rec if you take out the White House." Hmmm, drinking beer will get you killed if the Muslims run the country, big guy.

- There is good news on casualties in Iraq, both military and civilian. Take a look at the graphs. My opinion is that the war is over; we are now watching Iraqi political negotiation through violence.
- The election in Italy is very, very close. Berlusconi may lose, but would try to form an opposition government. Latest results: "Near-final returns Tuesday showed Premier Silvio Berlusconi's conservatives holding a razor-thin lead in the Senate and Romano Prodi's center-left winning the lower house by the smallest of margins."
