So apparently it's vitally important for democracy that cartoons (which are so offensive to a a religious group of people that it causes violent protest) be shoved down all our throats (After all, they're just cartoons for our Lord Jesus Christ's sakes!) But when somebody makes offensive jokes towards her, it's like, totally different. No doubt because she made some complex moral reasoning weighing racist speech versus anti-religious imagery that she didn't let us in on, and not because she has a wildly inconsistent worldview that all Republicans don't not have. Well y'know what, if Wonkette can't make racist sexist jokes about Michelle Malkin, the terrorists win. I do love this argument that conservatives have become fond of lately- "Sure, in general we are pretty intolerant towards all non-whites, non-Christians, intellectuals, immigrants, dirty poor people, dirty French people, etc... But look at how intolerant all of them are towards us!" They then take the most outrageous liberal statement they can find, even if they have to scavenge for forum trolls and go through their anonymous hate mail, and then hold it up as the mainstream liberal view while ignoring anything approaching reasoned critique. Hear that sound? That's the sound of democracy dying slowly and painfully. Thank you conservative punditry!

Blooper writes: Compare and contrast Malkin's stance on the Mohammed cartoons: Chastise the mainstream media for not showing them, call them cowards for not wanting to spread hate. Do not condemn the cartoons as offensive (which she didn't of course, because she is bigoted against Muslims, just like you obviously are) while making the argument they should not be censored (After all, such fine distinctions make conservative's heads explode). Malkin's stance on personal attacks: Paints herself as a victim and martyrs herself for her acolytes, even though the actions she advocated (that all the MSM show the Mohammed cartoons) would have really put people in danger. This would have been a consistent position: Simply ignore Wonkette, accepting that it's a joke that she makes herself vulnerable to with the positions she takes. Elevate herself above it. But that would take some class. And actually whining about it? Now that's a joke. Racist, bigoted, womanizing Conservatives don't use this language anymore because it would make their racist bigoted policy position even more obvious. Liberals make jokes, we have to find humor in the horrible mess your leaders and pundits have made of politics in this country, at least until we spank your asses in the midterm elections.
