A Jawa American Living in Mindanao

Reuters Update

Adnan Hajj, photographic stringer to the stars of terrorism, has been fired by Reuters for doctoring his photos.

Reuters withdrew the doctored image on Sunday and replaced it with the unaltered photograph after several news blogs said it had been manipulated using Photoshop software to show more smoke. Reuters has strict standards of accuracy that bar the manipulation of images in ways that mislead the viewer.

“The photographer has denied deliberately attempting to manipulate the image, saying that he was trying to remove dust marks and that he made mistakes due to the bad lighting conditions he was working under,” said Moira Whittle, the head of public relations for Reuters.

That is a lame excuse; he was working on a computer screen, not in an unlighted bunker.

The Jawas came to bury Adnan, not to praise him: they present another doctored photo. I buy the F-16 photo being altered. Dan is still chasing the ambulance story, too (and others, scroll around). Adnan sure was a lucky guy to be in the right place, pointing his camera in the right place at exactly the right time to catch terrorist attacks.

And the same woman lost her house twice? Oh, my, how very unlucky...

Clearly, the current system of freelance stringers providing news stories and photographs to the MSM is not working. We are fed a diet of lies, half-truths, unverifiable attrocity stories, close-up photos of terrorists at work, all serving the propaganda needs of the terrorists groups we are fighting. The MSM hates embedded reporters because the reporters become attached to their units, damaging their objectivity. They don't recognize that media stringers are far less objective than any embed could ever be? They are just biased to the other side.

This needs to be fixed. I don't get the feeling that the media is interested in the problem.

Update: Cox & Forkum

Update: Chalk one up to the Jawa Report. Reuters has withdrawn all 920 photos from Adnan Hajj. Not as big a win as Rathergate, but big nonetheless. How about some respect for the guys in pajamas, MSM?
