UK Plot Updates

The explosives were to be smuggled onto the plane in sports drinks. The battery from a disposable camera would be used to set off the bomb (the Guardian says an iPod, not camera).
Police had a man inside and were monitoring the plot for months. The terrorists were linked to the 7/7 bombings.
The ringleaders have been identified. Two had recently travelled to Pakistan. One plotter was a Heathrow security guard (and one was a Liverpool soccer fan, spoke at Muslim rallies and met with George Galloway...that explains everything).
24 have been arrested, 5 are still being hunted.
Two of the plotters may have been white guys. This article hints at it, but doesn't actually say it.
I wonder if this was supposed to take place on August 22nd. The dry run was coming in a few days, followed by the actual attack soon after. 8/22 would be about right.
Bush calls terrorists "Islamic fascists." "This nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation." Speak truth to power, baby! They sure look like fascists.
CAIR is pissed off. Powerline:
I don't get this. First, CAIR endlessly tells us that Muslims are peaceful and not terrorists. But then, in the next breath, it sticks up for the terrorists and objects to their being called fascists. Second, CAIR seems to object to any pejorative reference to Islamic terrorists. If we can't call them fascists, or militant jihadists, or Islamic radicals, or totalitarians or imperialists, what on earth are we supposed to call them?
And CAIR, keep defending those terrorists. After all, you know quite a few.
Most on the Left seem to think this was Rovian plot to distract America from Lamont's win. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sick. Lieberman says:
I’m worried that too many people, both in politics and out, don’t appreciate the seriousness of the threat to American security and the evil of the enemy that faces us — more evil or as evil as Nazism and probably more dangerous that the Soviet Communists we fought during the long Cold War.
I want to make sure that I satisfy my responsibilities and use my seniority in the Senate to make the future of the families of Connecticut safer than it would otherwise be. I don’t think that Ned Lamont gets that and that’s a serious difference between us.
Heh.
Double heh (go read the rest):
This is evidenced in twisted dichotomies such as:
Standing in solidarity with fanatical dictatorships while fearing that in the next two years your president will pronounce himself Theocratic President for Life
Fighting tooth and nail to prevent counter-terrorism plans while expecting your government to protect you
Watching your son’s head getting sawed off by Islamic terrorists and blaming it (non-violently, of course) on the president of the United States.
Having grandparents who had everything stolen from them by the Bolsheviks and fled to the United States, yet embracing the greater truth of Communism.
Update: Consume your devil's food dessert while keeping it in the fridge, as well.
