’This is indeed a wise “long-term” strategy, trying to win over Islamic moderates, but Lewis writes as if the danger posed by Iran is not an immediate one, as if we have the luxury of relying on far-sighted strategies. But Lewis himself is suggesting that Iran may be planning “cataclysmic” attacks to begin as early as August 22. That doesn’t leave a lot of time for long-term planning. We all hope and pray that August 22 is not the day Ahmadinejad has chosen to launch the apocalypse, but there is little doubt in the White House and at the CIA that the Iranian leader is feverishly trying to build, buy, or steal nuclear weapons, and that he will quite likely use them once he has them.
All of this raises very serious questions for the president and the nation. How much time do we have to pursue a diplomatic track with Iran? At what point do we have to conclude that negotiations are going nowhere? Are we prepared to live with a nuclear-armed Iran? If so, how? If not, what is the president prepared to do to protect Americans and our allies from an Iranian nuclear-strike, or nuclear blackmail?
My view is this: there is a small chance that Iran is planning a nuclear attack next week. There is a small chance that an American city or Tel Aviv will cease to exist. The odds are overwhelming that nothing will occur except the usual blah, blah, and blah from Ahmadinejad and his cronies. But why are we sitting here wondering if millions will die? Why in God's name are we allowing a madman to continue developing nukes?
Answer this please: what will you think on August 23rd if the worst happens and the Tel Aviv is smoking crater with hundreds of thousands dead? Will you say to yourself that something should have been done? Will you blame Bush? Will you blame the CIA for not knowing the details of one of the most secret programs in the world? Or will you think to yourself, "There was only a small chance, but we should have done something anyway."
Most people, especially the Left, will blame the Israelis and go back to their normal lives after a month or two. The ostrich heads will remain in the sand until America is hit. At that point, the Middle East will cease to exist. It is better to stop the madmen now, before it is too late for us all, Westerners and Muslims alike.
Iran's Hezbullah admits Iran is after nuclear weapons. The Left will continue denying it.
Iran condemns the ceasefire resolution for not condemning Israel and for calling for the disarming of Hezbullah.
The good news is that all 11 of the Egyptian students have been arrested and no terrorist acts were committed.
I have to ask (if this post isn't banned by Verizon) just what is Chavez going to do with that thing? Castro already has intestinal problems.* Via Allah.

As for "middling blogger" well, you are the only news-digest blog that I read (with the exception of following your links sometimes). I don't know if that makes you feel any better. Probably not.
I had a post on my blog about Iran (since deleted when I streamlined the blog down) that argued that we were going to have to do something about Iran anyway given that Iraq is incapable of protecting itself, and probably won't be able to for a long time. You think that Bush, who can come up with some pretty plausible-sounding excuses, would have already thought of that one. Of course, I guess we could just keep a whole carrier group and a few divisions in Kuwait for the next six hundred years or so.
Anyway, all things come in good time. And like you said, let's hope it isn't too late. I guess we'll find out in the next week to two years, one way or another.

The entire Free Western World did not have the will to exterminate a small terrorist army. There is no hope now that they can deal with Iran or Syria. Lebanon was Waterloo for the West. Bush is the greatest American traitor since Benedict Arnold or John Wilkes Booth.

A few months ago Hezbollah was not that well known. Now it has achieved immortal world wide fame. The heart will beat on in Lebanon and its’ claws will activate world wide. It represents a defeat for the West by Islam. This will even convince and inspire moderates that Islam deserves to rule and exterminate the West. Now there will be many, many more deaths from Hezbollah terrorists and Hezbollah inspired terrorists all over the world.
People will be killed in Iraq, in America, in England, in Canada because Hezbollah was left alive and left to grow in power in Lebanon.
Israel and America showed that they were unwilling to destroy terrorism. It was militarily obvious that destroying Hezbollah would not only save lives in Israel but also in Iraq and every country in the world. Yet Bush chose to betray the American soldiers fighting in Iraq,
Every soldier in Israel and America should realize that that they have been betrayed and that their Governments do not want them to win and want them to die for petty personal politics, in effect for nothing.
Complicit now in world wide terrorism is America and Bush, Israel and Olmert. These populations and governments will be accountable for the final victory of Islam.
Bush and Olmert have become terrorist murders. When they refused to allow their armies to win they gave permission to the terrorists to kill innocents world wide.
Nobody should support Israel or America or the war on terror from these peoples or these leaders.
If Bush should ever again talk about the “war on terror” or “prevailing” in Iraq everyone should vomit in unison. Vomit out the manure and dump it back on these traitors to humanity. We had one real opportunity to win, and he didn’t take it.
For those of us who oppose terrorism there is no major organization or government left to support. The only government in America that could have opposed terrorism proved to be corrupt and selfish and sacrificed humanity for it’s own interests. There are only a few countries that are capable of opposing Islam: Only America , Canada , Britain and Israel. Since Israel and America has betrayed humanity there is not one left. All of these countries have become rotten from within. The left liberal cancer has eaten the heart out of these countries and opened the door for the cesspool of Islamic culture to establish itself in our heartlands. The greed of the media has eaten the brain of the West.
The entire Western World has proven to be too weak and too corrupted to fight Islamic fascism. The forces of leftism, liberals , anti-aggressionists, media corruption are too great and overwhelming for the forces opposed to the Islamic terror.
Western Civilization has proven incompetent to oppose Islam and now the Islamofascists all know that and they can be certain of final victory.
As for all Western individuals the only option left is individual fatalism and to try to have the best quality of life we can have in our remaining years. Nobody should fight for IDF , IAF, Bush, America, Canada or England. Nothing is worth dying for in Israel, Iraq or Afghanistan.
They will shorten your live for no reason. They have betrayed every soldier who ever fought and died for them,They do not fight to win. The leaders only make the soldiers fight and die for the selfish economic short term gains.
When the final battle comes we will die with self respect or we will simply be blown up. In either case it doesn’t matter. Smart individuals must be realistic and decide how they want to die and how to choose their remaining years.
Israelis who don’t want to die, be blown up, shot, gassed or nuked should get out of Israel. It will probably give you 10 or 20 more years of life. Don’t have children, they won’t live to old age. You will need all your money to survive anyway.
I do not agree with Islam and it’s insanity but I also do not believe the West has any more right to survive. The West has proven to be fundamentally corrupt and Immoral. Everyone who will try to fight for Western civilization will be betrayed, It is incontrovertibly weak and flawed. Those who foolishly fight for the West will not be rewarded, Those who die will have died too early and for nothing. For those that fight on just consider them as fools an idiots. Let them die so that you can live a little longer. Who cares? Listen to them now, rationalize and bluster. They are only diseased and incompetent and being used by the greedy and the corrupt.
Even the so called “right wing” does not have the will to survive. Terrorism and support of terrorism should be punishable by death. Those found supporting terrorism in any way even on internet propaganda should be summarily executed within 48 hours. Only this attitude, which is a total intolerance to terrorism and an total desire to win against terrorism.. only this attitude will prevail against terrorism. All else is doomed to failure.
Islam does have this attitude. Islam is committed to win. They are committed to ruthlessly exterminate any human being that opposes them. In this respect they are admirable for their will and their commitment to their cause. In this respect the maximize qualities of commitment that the West totally lacks.
Only this same attitude can defeat them This attitude must be returned to them or we will perish by their will.
A people that do not wish to live deserve, by all evolution’s prerequisites, to die. A civilization that tolerates terrorism as the West does , does not deserve to survive. Currently the West unmistakably tolerates terrorism or else it would simply eradicate it and it does not.
Western Civilization does not deserve to survive. The basic structures of its’ society is cannibalistic, Darwinianly immoral and unsustainable. It has proved itself to be evolutionarily flawed. The future belongs either to Islam or Asia. I hope they can do better the pathetic suicidal lunatic Babylon that taken ascendance and is now the defining characteristics of Western Civilization.
Western civilization is disgusting and unsupportable. There is no longer any way to defend its’ legitimacy. Let it burn in its’ self-inflicted fate.

Since we are in a war with terrorism for our very survival it is legitimate to summarily execute all pro-Hezbollah supporters for treason and espionage. If a nation refuses to defend itself it has no more evolutionary right to exist.

They have already destroyed our peaceful culture and the quality of our lives. They try over and over again to impose Sharia law on Canadians, they constantly attempt to extend and expand their political and religious objectives on our culture. They actively use all the tools of the media as propaganda against us to change our way of life. Just the attempts themselves have been a destruction of our peaceful way of life. They disturb government meetings organize hate parades terrorize Islamic moderates and the actual criminal activity as documented by Canadian Authorities is even more extensive that the USA.

ALL of the Muslim groups in Canada in this conflict not only backed the terrorist organization of Hezbollah but used the opportunity to further and propagandize for their political and religious aims, lobby for policies that would destroy Israel and advance the cause of Hezbollah and Global Islamic Jihad.
NOW there will be a two way pipeline from Lebanon to Canada. Through that pipeline will flow: money, information, technology, materials people, logistics plans, support, Jihadists and terrorists.
They will use our technology, our commuters, our money, our information services, our industry all to further their causes here and overseas.
They will use the leftist dupes and the liberals stooges and the money grubbing opportunistic medias all to completely blind-side and deceitfully undermine all resistance, exactly as they have stage managed the world media against Israel.

Fair? My comment is 100 percent accurate. Bush betrayed the entire western world. He had the opportunity to destroy Hezbollah in Lebanon and he refused to do it for his own personal gain. When the first atomic bomb destroys a Western city, when the next Hezbollah blow up a plane or commit a terrorist attack just remember who is responsible BUSH and OLMERT!

I said the entire article doesn't matter, it doesn't matter what words anyone uses. Everything about Bush is a lie. Everything about the "war on terror" is a lie. There is no war on terror. There is a fake war on terror being used for personal gain. If there was a war on terror Bush and Olmert would have waged it when they had the opportunity to crush Hezbollah.
Now it is obvious that Bush nor does any Western leader want to win the war on terror. They are making money and having power from keeping terror alive. Bush, America, Olmert, Israel and all of Islam are all the real terrorists.
All other human beings are their cannon fodder.

You are wrong about what they are trying to do, that is just wishful thinking , just as thinking Olmert was playing deceptive politics was wishful thinking. He and Bush were playing a double feint on the Israelis and Americans.
You are right about the countries involved. But their point is not to have a confrontation with Iran.
Bush and his corporate buddy boys, his Saudi friends, his "base" want the Saudi Oil, and they are not sharing that with the American public, in fact they are using it to gouge and have power over the American public. They are making Americans pay and give their lives for their own enslavement. It is a neat trick. The liar and traitor Bush has no intention of waging war on Iran. Like all opportunists he is only lining his own pockets without concern for the future.
On the contrary, I HOPE A MUSHROOM CLOUD starts it off. America and Israel deserve to get nuked and learn a lesson for their betrayal of humanity. They have condemned us all to constant terrorism and I hope they pay for it and I hope Islam makes them pay dearly for their murderous betrayal.
