Every time Opera updates my Speed Dial thumbnails get messed up. And, I always forget what the solution is, so instead of spending time searching I'm putting the solution here so next time I don't have to waste time looking.

This post has the basics.

My thumbnails (which I made myself) have been write protected for years. All I have to do is:

1. point at a thumb
2. right click -> Reload Every -> any value except Never
3. right click -> Reload (should create a full page thumb)
4. right click -> Reload Every -> Never

Close Opera

edit speeddial.ini
make sure each Dial has this line:

Reload Policy=0

restart Opera

That should basically do the trick

I found myself on this page: Demo of Animated Pngs and realized that Opera (using 10.10) can view APNGs. This isn't much of a surprise. However, Opera users should be shouting this from their rooftops.

Not to mention making Apngs to show off Opera. When I have a moment I may try my hand at this.
