For the millions of people who enjoy watching Asian cinema, there isn't enough information out there that covers all the wonders that it has to offer. Firstly, for those who aren't aware, the term "Asian cinema" doesn't refer to every movie that comes from Asia. Instead, the term normally refers to the Southeast Asian films. It is represented by the productions of countries such as China, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Other areas within Asia are classified under certain areas of East Asian cinema, Southeast Asian cinema, Central Asian cinema, West Asian cinema, and South Asian cinema. The actual countries listed above, however, are the most often referred to when using the term in common descriptions or conversation. This classification also includes Indian cinema in the list, along with Bollywood, which is the biggest producer of films and tickets sold in the entire world.
This type of cinema also includes anime, Hentai, documentaries, and various other genres that come out of these regions. In recent years, the Anime and Hentai subcultures have garnered mainstream success in the United States, sparking a craze to know everything there is to know about Asian cinema. Understanding a culture on the other side of the world can prove to be challenging, but appreciating their arts and culture isn't as complicated as it seems.
Asian cinema is popular among all ages, as well. While many children enjoy Japanese animation cartoons, the style actually evolved from adult-oriented comic books and ideas, and most anime is geared toward the older generations. It's not just for males, either. There are plenty of female fans of anime. Hentai is becoming just as popular, and is a particular style of animation that is geared explicitly toward adult audiences, as it often contains pornography and sexual situations.
There is a lot to Asian cinema than just animation, but these are just the two most popular genres to come out of that region recently. Asia is also well known for its documentaries and action films, most notably, the Kung-Fu movies genre. No matter what a movie buff is seeking in foreign film appreciation, Asian cinema can certainly offer dish out something for just about everyone. From comedy to drama, action to cartoon pornography, Asian cinema is taking the world by storm.
