The wrong stuff...

Well, on balance I am a bit annoyed. Maybe I am just paranoid, but I get the impression that Microsoft tend to serve Opera users slightly worse than average. (And in terms of the stuff they put on the Web, that isn't kind).
Microsoft uses SVG in a service of theirs (thanks Jeff Schiller for pointing it out). But only gives it to Firefox, despite Opera's SVG implementation being generally ahead of Firefox at the moment. Opera users are stuck with old fashioned images that take a lot longer to load...

Question: How do you know that they're not serving SVG to Opera? Do you have a way of inspecting the DOM in a live fashion? I can't figure out a way to prove this to myself (and I'd like to).
Actually I can't get the Driving Directions to really work in O9 when I visit local.live.com, the map shows me the waypoints, but no paths are visible. In a similar vein, with www.live.com I get nothing but a logo and a search box.
By the way, I identified my O9 as "Mozilla" and tried to see Driving Directions with the same problem. This is why I'm thinking maybe there's some other problem going on.
Anyway, I agree that it sucks. I'll fire off an email to them tonight.
Regards,
Jeff
