I am in Japan, where life is slightly different, in ways that are generally good but sometimes surprising...
In particular, having arrived and gone straight to a meeting at the end of my trip, I am sitting in McDonalds.
This will surprise a lot of people who know me. The reason is simple - free internet. early in the morning (It's now 6.30) I am here often if I am awake. It is around the corner from the friend's place where I am staying, and is the handiest dry internet access at this time of day. Unfortunately I don't think the coffee is that good, and I don't much like the breakfast menu. I remember being upset when Hungry Jacks (as Burger King was called in Australia) started doing breakfast menus too. But then they stop grilling the bread by default, and I more or less gave up on them too anyway.
The internet here is not all that flash, but better than nothing. And having got up at 5, had a bath, organised my stuff, there is not a lot else to do...
Well, time to go somewhere else and get a decent breakfast. And start the day...
