Group 7 elements are known as halogens. They are very reactive non-metals. The compounds of group 7 elements can either be ionic or covalent. All the halogens have diatomic molecules (due to the high stability of diatomic molecules and the tendency to reach the stable noble gas configuration), which in the solid state are arranged in a simple molecular structure
