So what do I do now?

Many people waste their time with negative emotions. They seem to - if not actually to enjoy them - at least to revel in them. When they are sad, they are very very sad. When they are angry, they are very very angry... They turn their thoughts inward and kill their dreams or outward and kill ours.

So, someone asked how to do what I advocated in a previous essay. Here is my reply. What is your opinion?

Don't waste your time.
Spend your time learning how to fill your heart with lovely thoughts. Spend your time learning how to shine out your loving thoughts. Spend your time dreaming of finding a lovely mate to live with. Sing lovely songs before you go to bed.
Sing: "Where are you my darling on this warm and lovely night? Where are you my sweetheart? Will you hold me tight?"
Believe in your dream-song. Don't worry about it. Let it float out your window into the world. Your true love is out there wondering where his true love can be. When he dreams, he will hear your lovely song and begin to come to you. Just let it happen. Don't try to control the world. You can not. Just fill your life with love and send out your love to the world. He is out there looking for you too.
Let fate bring you together.
Be happy in your heart!

I agree wholeheartedly!

In western societies it seems to have become a standard phrase that if you feel anger or whatever, it´s important "to let it all out" - meaning showing your anger for everyone to see.

In my experience this makes things even worse.

On the other hand it´s no use to suppress your emotions - the steam will just come out somewhere else.

So I think it´s imporant to convert destructive emotions into constructive ones. Like the example you´re referring to: Instead of being angry with the world that you don´t have a lover, a spouse, whatever - show your love to people, the love that´s underneath the anger and the reason for it. You´ll be more happy - and your chance of finding a friend will increase significantly in number. Just an example.
