Here is a puzzle for all you math wizards out there>
The 4 shapes can be arranged in two ways, but the two areas are different.
How can this be true?

You have now kept me busy for quite some time.

I even made a cardboard version of this. In the cardboard version there´s no difference to be found. Which lead me to the conclusion that there must be something wrong with this version.

I assume that the "background" squares in the grid are slightly different in size. Seems to be the only solution from deduction. Elementary, dear Watson - or am I wrong?

And I am no mathematician.

In fact the figures differ in both situations and it's the solution.

The Trick is that the diagonal of the joined rectangle as shown is not really a straight line, i.e. there is an adjustment to use the two yellow triangles to make up for the rectangle. This adds one unit of square area making total to 65.....at length 5 from the top of the height of the triangle it is shown to be of length 2 to add up the length 3 side of the other triangle, which is not true.....
