The brain is strange and wonderful.

As you know, we learn most quickly when we are young. As the brain makes connections we become more capable. Our thoughts quicken and more and more new concepts and relationships become part of our thought processes. The brain begins to streamline itself and the favored pathways become habitual.

As we age, the habitual thought processes become faster, though perhaps harder to change.

So age produces the ability to think faster, but learn slower. Even so, it can learn if given the chance and motivation, it is just not as easy as when we were younger!

My friends are newly weds. They fell in love but do not speak each other's language well. Even though they are older, they are learning each other's language as well as how to communicate with body language!

Motivation is important at any age!
