Opera 10 downloads

, ,

The results are in... When we launched Opera 9 back in 2006 we had 580,000+ something downloads the first day.

Opera 10? Oh boy... We are getting close to 2,000,000 downloads - and that's only the first day! No wonder the servers acted sluggish yesterday. :faint:

Hope you are enjoying Opera 10 so far. Seems like many do.

It seems, that Op. Turbo servers are also a bit overloaded.

D1sasterp1ece 2. September 2009, 21:22

Firefox, eat your ears!

Daniel James Hendrycks 2. September 2009, 22:40

Will you get another server so they are not sluggish next time like they were in this release?

Daniel James Hendrycks 2. September 2009, 22:42

Also please give us a report on how many downloads were in week one when that time comes.

Graham Whittaker 2. September 2009, 22:43

congratulations. Great marketing. However, one glitch. In opera 10 my mail has problems. Anyone else. Fails to contact server (authentication). Some emails come in, others fail. I close 10, and reopen and suddenly I have scores of emails flooding in, mostly spam. Anyone else? Not a complaint, but an observation, and it can be a bit annoying. That said, great launch and thank you.

Diego Schild 2. September 2009, 23:56

Yeah!

Timothy 3. September 2009, 03:50

Congratulations team, a job very well done. I'm very proud of the amazing uptake on the new release, and I have no doubts that it has a fair bit to do with the (now) automatic updates. Looks like there are still a couple of minor bugs, but I notice that most of the bugs I have been having on certain websites over the beta testing have disappeared (as a matter of fact, it's now running, for the most part, much better than 9.64 ever did).

Cheers on the new spell checker as well - haven't really checked it out yet (even though I've been testing the beta a little), but I'm confident it's better than the old, outdated, GNU Aspell libraries users have had to download until now.

"It seems, that Op. Turbo servers are also a bit overloaded."

Actually, it was choking a little even in the RC.

"What I'd like to know: Where do all the users come from? (countries)"

Good idea - some geolocational statistics on downloads would be both interesting for the users and possibly useful for potential new features for the next release.

CGMAN 3. September 2009, 05:39

wow!!! congratulations!!!! :hat: :drunk: :headbang:   :hat:

Anyone else has problems with fast typing in Opera's text fields? When I type fast (it's normal for me) it seems, that letters are displaying with lags. Especially comment boxes in Wordpress sites suffer from this. Even when I hold a key, the letters no not appear smoothly.
It's very irritating. The same problem I had with Opera 9, but "10" has a clean install and problem persists. I can't find reason nor solution…

sometimes i get short freezes. but i'm kind of used to that and i'm not sure if it's opera or just my pc :D

Shanika 3. September 2009, 11:21

Pachayo

pavel 3. September 2009, 11:55

Opera 10 is great! But please add a plugin to put the signature in mail automatically ABOVE the quited text - that's a tiny thing to do I hope but that would make me fall in love with Opera forever ))))

skcorarepo 3. September 2009, 12:31

Opera 10 is the best browser ever. It works the way I want a browser to work -- it looks fantastic (kudos to your designer) and you have obviously paid a good deal of attention to performance and ergonomics. The bolder icon is far easier to locate at a glance than the one from version 9. Great job!
