I tried to start a group for this after seeing Opera in a movie:
http://my.opera.com/OperaSightings/forums/topic.dml?id=249164

The Recruit (2003)
After the parking lot make out scene, they go back to the female agents house. After they "sleep" with each other, the male agent uses her computer. Afterwards the female checks to see what he was doing on her computer, and Opera 5 opens up.

No time or screen shot, but I will work on it.

It looks like 7.5...

But it's actually a correct usage since, the old man says the computer is old.

serious Friday, January 29, 2010 7:40:22 PM

that looks like a way-old version of opera there ... even for '08 (and even older than the version my father's using which is ... 8.5?)

International acting fame. Woot! for Opera star.

Al Garciaalgarcia Friday, January 29, 2010 8:31:08 PM

That's an Opera Fan!

techlawsam Friday, January 29, 2010 9:40:42 PM

wow at first when it set "no connection to remote server" it looked similar to firefox but played it back and saw the "old opera icon" and said man there making opera look bad, but then i saw he took off the hardware block and then use cmd to "refresh" the IP settings (same thing I would do bigsmile ). Now lets hope 10.5 gets used in future releases like mabye if they make another James Bond movie the pc's and phones at MI6 use Opera 10.5 and opera mobile 10 (or Mini) yes

I made a point of using opera in a tween show I worked on two years ago (not sure if I should say the name). This was back when the slick 9.0 black skin came out.

Lol at this and "modem hacking". That guy knows specific MAC address just by looking at hardware.

I think he knew the MAC address by typing ipconfig, before he typed /release bigsmile

Barraco Mármol Jerónimojerobarraco Saturday, January 30, 2010 4:02:53 PM

i think the biggest error in that movie is that it misses the 'S' between Hot and Hit in the logo.

yep...

that's a nice opera smile i remember that version smile

Hehe, its the first screen that counts ;P

Joseph D. Lienjdlien Sunday, January 31, 2010 8:12:14 PM

I don't think the version of Opera in that movie is actually as old as it looks - and neither is the Operating System. I believe it's Windows Vista, and Opera 9 series, but it's all been heavily customized soas to be nearly unrecognizable and unbranded.

Charles SchlossChas4 Sunday, January 31, 2010 8:20:52 PM

Yep looks like vista and Opera version 9.2x or 9.6x

selurus Monday, February 1, 2010 8:59:55 PM

That really cool. Has Opera Mini been spotted on the big screen?

I, personally find it incomprehensible that a youtube video is embedded in a post meant for the community as a whole.
Opera Mini users have to ask for a link. Why? confused

Edit: Never mind. I can watch it using Bolt. up @
