Danieledarklink88 Thursday, March 4, 2010 12:54:10 PM

I've got a problem with the latest 10.5 mac snapshot...when clicking play the song doesn't start. In addition, i suggest to improve the resolution of the icon in order to be displayed more nicely on the dock of mac OSX

It would be nice to have the possibility to search the songs among the ones shared instead of searching for person connected sing

Unix users please note that Opera 10.50 (Beta) has to be installed on both ends.

I'm waiting for a final 10.5 release for Linux. And hope it works. I can't use my Opera browser on Opera Community to listen to my music player or watch videos in Linux. Haven't found out why yet. Firefox works fine.

kersurk Thursday, March 4, 2010 3:03:22 PM

This is really REALLY great!

Yes.

Without going through the Opera servers? as in playing the files directly from the hard drive.

kersurk Thursday, March 4, 2010 3:19:19 PM

It does go through Opera servers, but when playing the files you'll have direct connection, so speed wouldn't be an issue. Probably wouldn't work offline though.

BTW, I would like if there'd also be download button if I want to keep a song (I assume it's in the cache though).

Morphdreamer Thursday, March 4, 2010 3:20:28 PM

Awesome up Would it be possible to add last.fm support?

kersurk Thursday, March 4, 2010 3:25:05 PM

Seems it doesn't open directories with single quote (') in the name.

Tu0r Thursday, March 4, 2010 3:58:25 PM

Amazing! No one can deny: there's no browser in the planet like Opera. I love it!

Z1-AV69 Thursday, March 4, 2010 4:30:25 PM

It looks nice, but it doesn't allow a search for users with "-" in the username. So i can't find myself. sad For Unite "-" is no problem at all.

kersurk Thursday, March 4, 2010 4:33:51 PM

Z1-AV69 try closing the widget and opening it again, and just searching for av69 maybe.

MetalRaise Thursday, March 4, 2010 4:52:53 PM

My entire CD collection is stored in the FLAC format. Is the Unite Media Player capable of transcoding them to a MP3 stream in real-time?

It seems to be necessary to search for exact usernames. Under security aspects this is likeable. Restarting didn't help btw.

ldeane Thursday, March 4, 2010 5:35:58 PM

I'm sorry , I may be missing something but I don't understand this widget - it's not configurable ( no settings ), there's no way of browsing my local files and when I click 'get your music plugged in' it goes to 'my opera' where none of my unite applications are, instead of asking for my unite address, as would be only logical. Nice ui, though! Anyway, I'm sure if I did get it working, the only codec it could handle, like the actual 'unite media player', would be mp3s. Sorry, nice try but not usable!

ErikshaktiIIIgta Friday, March 5, 2010 12:19:53 AM

IT DOES go trough third-party servers... in fact at the moment i realized that, i stopped using Unite... is such an epic and great idea but traffic trough Opera servers is not good...

i think I'll use unite when another technology is developed that let me communicate DIRECTLY with the other person

thanks for the 10.5 work really nice, i may report 1 or 3 glitches but i think they are minor

yes

yes you can. Just run unite's Media Player application on your computer. Then, you can connect to it using this widget from anywhere (or just using any browser from anywhere).

The FAQ says it runs on Linux. I'm using Kubuntu.

Oops I had Unite disabled. But now it won't let me log it in.

That's just a DNS like setup to make sure you can use readable URLs and not just the IP address. It's like saying that all data goes through your ISP's DNS servers...

Cutting Spoonhellspork Friday, March 5, 2010 5:56:33 PM

Like nearly any file-sharing service, SOMETHING has to tell the computers how to find each other. When someone types your address the Unite proxy will show them how to DIRECTLY CONNECT to you.

Nguyễn Trần Duy Phươngduyphuongdotnet Friday, March 5, 2010 10:26:48 PM

Why unite. Why opera software asa don't make it to software like Opera browser.

Dr. Flaydr-flay Monday, March 8, 2010 5:31:46 AM

I was hoping to be able to use this, as the new version of the Unite media player doesn't seem to work with the new Opera.
As previously pointed out "-" is not accepted in the user name, so I can't look for myself.

Great. now I have no Web-player at all down

Cutting Spoonhellspork Monday, March 8, 2010 5:45:13 PM

The new player bundled with my shipping 10.50 Final, works fine and I can play files even when offline. Are you talking about the third-party "Stream media" app? Please provide more detail if possible.

Dr. Flaydr-flay Tuesday, March 9, 2010 9:29:12 AM

I have Opera 10.50 build 3296.
I have re-installed all of my Unite apps and most of the recently updated OperaUnite own made apps I use, now don't work.
e.g. Photo-sharing, file-sharing & media-player.

I even physically deleted the widgets from their folder after deleting them & emptying them from the Unite Apps trashcan, before re-installing them once again.

I hoped that I could use the Widgetized version of the media player instead, but it doesn't work as you cant find me anyway because my profile is "Dr-Flay" and I've already changed it to that to keep Unite happy. I'm damned well not changing my user name again! down

What are you trying to say?

Unite is a new innovation, and it's just getting started.

Cutting Spoonhellspork Wednesday, March 10, 2010 5:48:29 PM

That person was saying Unite should be a separate program.
