Facebook @mentions fix

,

Facebook

The Opera sitepatch team just released a new update to browser.js, and guess what? Facebook @mentions is included in the list of issues patched!

PATCH-264 Enable @mentions on Facebook. Not going to mention anything about it other than that it will be removed as soon as they fix it.

This is not a final solution to the problem, it's a small hack to make sure that all Opera users are allowed to use @mentions until Facebook decides to implement a proper solution. Please follow these simple instructions to get it working.

Opera downloads browser.js automatically once a week, but if you want to get the latest update follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Browser JavaScript setting and change the value to 1.
  2. Click the "Save" button below the setting.
  3. Use Help > Check for updates in Opera's menu bar.

Opera may tell you no new Opera version is available, but it will still check for a new version of the browser.js file.

Please note that this is not the "final" solution to this issue, but it's a working solution!

Check on here

It will say:

Current browser.js status: enabled.
Target version and time stamp of the active browser.js file is Opera Desktop 10.60 core 2.6.30, August 25, 2010 .

Juho Saarinenfinnicusdraco Wednesday, August 25, 2010 2:50:31 PM

Hallvord R. M. Steenhallvors Wednesday, August 25, 2010 2:56:28 PM

..and if you previously configured Opera to identify as Firefox to make @mentions work, you can re-configure it to identify as itself when you've got the new browser.js file! ;-)

What is the different when the '2' value changed into '1'?
is there any side effect to other webpages?

No, it only affects the updating process and it resets to 2 once the browser.js file has been updated.

(assuming that part of the documentation is not out of date)

Yes, but you should update to the latest version anyhow!

On my Opera when I set the value from "2" to "1" and then when I check for new updates Opera tells me that it is updated.
What can I do?

Even with this message the updated was done, now change the value back to 2 if it isn't.

It also checks for a newer version of the browserjs and downloads the newer one if there is one

Here is where you connect social networks to My Opera.
But for accessing Facebook on the Nintendo DSi, simply use http://m.facebook.com wink
