My Internet-connection is more than fast enough to not needing turbo bigsmile

Sushubh Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:12:00 AM

it comes real handy on my android considering mobile internet really sucks around here in India.

it comes handy on desktop to access sites which are somehow blocked by the ISP.

Andylee Satomichaelpuermayr Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:12:18 AM

I'm using Opera Turbo when in a train on a slow mobile internet connection. Without Opera Turbo working the way I'm used to now would be impossible.

murabel Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:19:28 AM

Not using Turbo. Have up to 8 Mbps home and about 30 Mbps office connections. Opera Mobile for Maemo fast enough on HSDPA, so no need to use Turbo too.

IlyaProvidence Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:21:52 AM

I'm using Opera Turbo on slow & unreliable mobile internet connection, and, sometimes, as proxy when main ISP blocks access to some sites. In other cases, I dont use Opera Turbo, because I have 3 mbps landline connection:-) Russia.

Misel Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:22:11 AM

I use Opera Turbo on my netbook. When no WiFi network is around I use the 3G modem and Opera Turbo allows me to save money and make the best of the slow connection.

ohh, I'm from Germany.

Sam Van den VonderHuRRaCaNe Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:22:59 AM

Only people from North America, Western Europe and Australia have decent speed internet.

With sizes of webpages constantly increasing, what should the rest of the world do?

Opera Turbo.

Hokkuthokkut Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:23:38 AM

When I'm using grps connection or downloading something (torrents) I'm enable turbo otherwise disable. It's very and very usefull thing with slowly internet.

Aux Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:25:21 AM

200mbits at home. Khm... No, I'm not using Turbo.

hexter Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:27:13 AM

My internet provider is quite unstable, and will sometimes refuse to provide certain websites, using Opera Turbo I can usually access them anyway!

Mağruf ÇolakoğluZAHEK Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:27:22 AM

I use somethimes Turbo but last time it was really good experince for me. How?
I was on holiday last week about 5 day and no internet connection where I go.
But I need to connect to my company in order to check my e-mails and other my works.I used my phone "Nokia E63" and its internet connection. I used it as a modem and connected on internet but I have only 100-150 mb quota for enternet.
Then I thought to surf on net with Opera and surfed about 3x fast with Opera Turbo and et the end of the day (after 5 day) I have about 50-60mb quota more or less smile

And also everyday I use Turbo wirh my Opera Mobile and it is so fast and usefull.

Thanks for all for this innovation...

Edit: I use it in Turkey

Artur „Jurgi” JurgawkaJurgi Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:31:46 AM

I use Turbo sometimes, because my 256 kbit is a snail. Not always, because Turbo sometimes cause problems when posting comments or forum/blog entries.
My brother will be soon Turbo user – he goes to studies and moves from shared 20 mbit to mobile broadband. bigsmile

Philphilippecr Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:34:42 AM

Opera Turbo is a must for mobile broadband users, as "wireless" tend to be very un-stable at times. Opera Turbo makes page lighter, no annoying flash and heavy images hence the faster viewing speed.

zoozdzaiddabaeen Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:35:36 AM

I have a 1Mbps connection, but when it goes really slow, I go for Opera Turbo, it saves more than 50% of what I download daily! bigsmile

Espen André ØverdahlEspenAO Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:54:51 AM

Great responses so far, guys! Don't forget to mention what country you are writing from so we can gain better insights into your Turbo situations. smile

1 As a proxy server.
2 When using mobile modem.

Thomas Oneclicksamoht1 Wednesday, September 15, 2010 11:59:56 AM

I use Turbo 99% of the time to increase browsing speed. For the last 1% I dont use turbo when I need a direct contact to a server, but happens rear. Overall Turbo Rocks for me smile

«The Netherlands»

I'm using Opera Mini (that uses Turbo) and on my Asus eee PC 4G (EasyPeasy) when using wifi (I'm using Mobile on it aswell). Although Chrome is better under Linux because of the screen usage, Opera is way faster then Chrome.
Both Opera and chrome aren't really optimized for small screens, though. That's a pitty.

Use Turbo as proxy to bypass country discrimination in some websites.

serious Wednesday, September 15, 2010 12:16:42 PM

my inet is fast enough and has no dl limit, so no, I'm in most cases not a user. when I travel around it's a different story though when I use my cell as modem (if I don't just use mini anyway)

AndrewIceScream Wednesday, September 15, 2010 12:25:02 PM

Turbo is very useful for me. I use it on my mobile phone.
In our region very expensive mobile web and Opera Turbo helps to save money and it is realy speeds up the connection!

Mağruf ÇolakoğluZAHEK Wednesday, September 15, 2010 12:25:50 PM

Especially in Turkey some websites(such as Youtube) is blocked by government nad it is an alternative way to reach them smile

airiRin Wednesday, September 15, 2010 12:29:28 PM

Using Turbo because no unlimited internet connection in my current location.
My connection speed will go down from 1 Mbps to 128 Kbps after 3GB of usage so Turbo is really essential when I passed the limit because it makes me feels like I have 512 kbps connection when browsing.

I'm from Indonesia.

Alexei Morozovmorav Wednesday, September 15, 2010 12:33:49 PM

When i use no unlimited 3g or GPRS connections.

Dominykas Blyžėdymonaz Wednesday, September 15, 2010 12:58:02 PM

I only really use Opera Turbo when travelling and having to use random wifi connections in cafes, hotels, airport buses, etc - but it is a real saver in these cases!

Ahmed GhanemAhmedGhanem Wednesday, September 15, 2010 1:07:08 PM

Well, at first I live in Alexandria, Egypt and I am a Vodafone customer, my main use for Opera Turbo is when I'm on a laptop at college and I need to use 3G, data prices are pretty high here, rating at 1 pound per megabyte so Opera Turbo saves me a lot of money while surfing outside my home when I don't have my DSL subscription or a WI-FI connection available.

selurus Wednesday, September 15, 2010 1:08:08 PM

India
I've recently started using Opera Mobile with Turbo as I recently blogged here http://my.opera.com/selurus/blog/unlimited-internet when I realised that my mobile has unlimited internet. Its all I can ask for "A native Opera Mini for Symbian"

It is the only thing that is resembling a usable browser when living on the EDGE.

Danieldesic Wednesday, September 15, 2010 1:36:02 PM

I don't use it often, but when I do get stuck on a slow connection, I can look smug while everyone else grinds to a halt.

Only problem is that your picture quality is bad p But if that turns you on then, he...

Al Garciaalgarcia Wednesday, September 15, 2010 1:49:08 PM

I use it to speed page loading, specially for site with too much flash content and banners. That way I can enable SWF on demand. It also speed my computer since some SWFs are poorly done.

Also my ISP has been having several slowdowns on download speeds, so it helps me sometimes while browsing.

On my netbook it comes handy while borrowing wifi on cafes and libraries.

And in a mobile sense, Opera Mini helps me A LOT since my mobile providers has not enabled 3G for my device. Also mobile data via GPRS/EDGE is quite expensive after exceeding my monthly limit.

Siam Sabbirjorjy27 Wednesday, September 15, 2010 2:13:09 PM

In my country Bangladesh Wi max service is too costly and not available everywhere since it is now only few months this technoly came here. So i use my service provider's slow and limited 1GB bandwidth. It offers EDGE. and i use my cellphone as a modem.
Opera turbo really works great when the fact comes to load heavy web sites. It's one of the great reasons i mostly love about Opera browser. Cause it saves my bandwidth a lot. And that's why i also love Opera mini too. smile

Alexislexiz08 Wednesday, September 15, 2010 2:18:17 PM

I live in the Philippines and I have good internet connection at home. Thing is, I always travel and just sniff for WiFi in coffee shops and malls with my laptop and iPod Touch or use 3G on my mobile. Nothing is more annoying than awfully slow internet connection in a crowded coffee shop and staring at a mobile phone on 3G loading high-res images on a small screen! Opera Turbo is perfect for people on the go! bigsmile

Ngọc Sơnquangloptruong Wednesday, September 15, 2010 2:21:56 PM

I use Opera Turbo when my internet connection is slow. (3072 kbps downstream but sometime it's very slow. And I need Opera Turbo to speedup connection)
In my country, sometime you can't access facebook, and Opera Turbo can help you access facebook easily yes.

Opera Turbo is a very nice feature for students like me ! We always have to research about something like finding it's definitions. With opera turbo ,it makes my work so smooth and fast! That's very useful !other browsers don't have it. Sometimes mine is slow but with opera turbo ,nothing is impossible:D up

i'm from Philippines

Danijel Todorovicdanijeltodorovic Wednesday, September 15, 2010 2:59:28 PM

I use Opera Turbo because then web pages have less memory footprint on Nokia 5800 in Opera Mobile, and the browsing is faster and I can surf more pages/month. The same goes when I'm on laptop using Telenor's 3.6 Mb/s USB modem here in Serbia. I can save several hundreds of MBs/month out of my 5 GB subscription. And again faster page loading (well, at least for most of the web sites I visit regulary). And used to be very useful for a couple of months when I had no other option than dial-up connection.

thegodspeed Wednesday, September 15, 2010 3:07:50 PM

Only as a proxy, when needed.

s14shyam Wednesday, September 15, 2010 3:20:18 PM

Well, I actually used Turbo a few months back, when I was in a broadband plan with a transfer cap, but now things have changed... Still, Turbo is, according to me,one of the most revolutionary things in the world of browsers. BTW, how´s this quote ( describing my views on Turbo ) : ¨ Intelligent revolution enhancing user´s efficiency... " ?

Sn3ipen Wednesday, September 15, 2010 3:20:54 PM

Before I got a new job I worked as a fisherman for 6 years. When Opera released Turbo, it helped me keep in touch with everybody I love and the rest of the world.

The same thing goes for Opera Mini. smile

random414 Wednesday, September 15, 2010 3:38:28 PM

I'm using Opera Turbo when I go to my grandma', country side; she only has and old telephone there, but I plug the telephone cable into my laptop which has a build-in 56 Kb modem... and I let Opera Turbo to do the magic. bigsmile

Turbo lets me browse more effectively while downloading large files.

manzel Wednesday, September 15, 2010 4:29:56 PM

I am from Germany and I use Opera Turbo because browsing without it when you only have 64 kbps (which I have at home) is a almost impossible.

Ali RazaAli8307 Wednesday, September 15, 2010 5:23:03 PM

Opera turbo the most stupid thing bomb it slowdown download speed even that when i right click on any and try to save it, it respond too slow that it takes 1 min. to download and when the turbo is off it happened quickly.

Pfeleleppfelelep Wednesday, September 15, 2010 6:16:23 PM

because sometimes, some webpages are full of high-res pictures that don't need to be hi-res, and even a high-speed connection takes YEARS to load.

OOOOOOopera turbo to save the (my) world! \o/
