Opera Mobile 10 and Mini 5 work okay.
* Update * Was trying to connect through my LAN at home. 5.1 Beta has since successfully connected through the LAN at my work, so it now seems to be working okay bigsmile

Yes, theres really no more dialogue boxes popping out asking permissions to connect to the Web since this is now the symbian version, no more need for java permissions. LOL

Nice!

Cool! But I still prefer Opera Mobile with its extensive advanced JS support and faithful rendering . My connection doesn't really cry for mini compression, anyway.
I think creating another mini "for Symbian" would confuse users when they try to distinguish which is the native app and which is the Java one.
The established view of Symbian OS users (at least according to my observation) is that mini is the simplified java based version of Opera with compression while Mobile is the the full-featured version one.
Perhaps, because the unification of UI in v5/10 anyone may say Mini and Mobile has the same features, by just looking at their appearence. However, when you start to use both to browse complex websites you'll notice that aforementioned view still applies. More specifically to to the core and rendering engine.

Still it's nice to have native stability with less browsing cost. Kudos to Opera! smile

I imagine it would better for Opera to merge this "mini for symbian" to the Mobile branch, and add an option to use mini style compression in the settings. That way development in Symbian sector *should* be easier, by just having one build.

Just my two cents.

kapuu Thursday, October 28, 2010 9:33:22 AM

It's pleasing to note that there is a new version of opera mini for symbian users. I just installed it on my nokia 5800 but it says "unable to connect review your network settings"

DanniKorut Thursday, October 28, 2010 9:50:00 AM

I cant browse you tube by using opera mini 5.1..why?

yjo Thursday, October 28, 2010 9:56:44 AM

The one feature from Opera Mini of old that I would like to see in Mini and Mobile again is proper spatial navigation, like the shift+direction-key desktop behaviour. While I would expect the virtual mouse pointer to remain the default behaviour, spatial navigation could be an option. It makes browsing pages with sparse links and widgets so much quicker and doesn't get in the way of reading.

Please consider!

manman009 Thursday, October 28, 2010 10:01:43 AM

MADAdragonmm2010 Thursday, October 28, 2010 12:51:05 PM

it's really good but i want it in handler mode where i get the new beta handler 5.1

EricEric64 Thursday, October 28, 2010 1:16:15 PM

x nokia no-connect users try switch to http mode(no socket)...

Robin ZalekBtEO Thursday, October 28, 2010 1:29:01 PM

No more dialogue boxes asking permission to connect to the Web.

Oddly enough I've always found Nokia phones, of all the phones I've installed Opera Mini to for various people, to be the most reliable with code signing — meaning those prompts were bypassed anyway.

Bugfixer Thursday, October 28, 2010 1:48:29 PM

Chinmay BodomChinu92 Thursday, October 28, 2010 1:57:45 PM

Absolutely great. Works like a charm on my 5800!

One question: Will there be ever the possibilitie to set it as default browser or do you need Nokia to fix this?

Bye,
keep up the gr8 work!

I'm browsing now on the new symbian version and all I can say is AWESOME
Opera Mini Rocks headbang
I never though this would happen, and stuck to Opera Mobile but this is simply amazing. I love Opera.
