Happy birthday Opera Mini!

Five years ago, Opera Mini was first unleashed on the world. The first year Opera Mini served close to 2 million pages, now five years later Opera Mini served over 46.7 billion pages per month! Available on over 3000 devices, it's no wonder Opera Mini is the worlds largest mobile browser!

The only downside of Opera Mini on my Sony Ericsson W20i is that I can't make it the default browser (or is it a downside of the Zylo?).

I love Mini; is faster then default phone browsers (SE ones...), Opera Link, Speed Dial and almost that same browser feeling like on the desktop.

I even held my Dutch presentation (for school) about it and maybe convinced a few classmates to start using it too (a few of them already did!).

Congratulations Opera Software for creating the browser that changed the way people browser the web on their mobiles. Before Opera Mini the mobile web was impossible due to the cost and the heaviness of the pages, but you innovated mobile browsing giving access to the real web to almost any device in the world!

Opera Mini is the most used mobile browser in the whole world, I think it's the real responsible for the popularization of the mobile web as it's going.

MY first time of using opera was in conakry the capital of guinea in the year 2008 first time using the web on a phone the way it accelerated loading the pages amazed me so much so that i prefered it to the computer .But what i was using it 4 did not permit access to the file forms on a phone (the site is the american dv lottery playing 4 citizenship ) my mobile is named sony ericsson w810i moreover i was using opera mini 4.2 and registered with it on the opera social network when i came across the beta in 2010 on get lap i wanted to switch my registration on it but phhh!!! no way

I remember the day when i first installed opera mini on my first color screen phone (Samsung SGH X600) back in 2006. And amazed my whole classroom how fast a mobile browser can load webpages. How smooth a page scrolling can be in a mobile browser. 4 more years have passed But i can still remember, when my first public exam's result came out i didn't have any pc and exam board's site was overloaded. then i used opera mini, searched in net and got my result without any trouble! After that time i also helped so many friends of mine to get their results from online. Few days ago i visited my cousin's home for a vacation tour. Although he had a fast net connection but he uses chrome (worst browser i've ever used. Too much crash). Then i had no choice but my opera mini browser installed on my cellphone. If you ask me about any story. Then i've a lot of little story to tell. I just love opera mini and of course my cellphone that gives me the opportunity to use this best mobile application.
by the way, did i forget to give opera mini a birthday wish?

I still remember why did I buy my first phone which support Java (Nokia 3110c). Now, even after using so many phones, after spending thousands of hours with my phones, I can assure, Opera Mini is the application which I used Most, using mostly n the way it looks, will use most. actually i did get my first opera mini on my birthday some time ago and it was probably opera mini 2.x because i remember somehow that i could upgrade to 3.0 with quite a lot more features and i had a fresh nokia 6300 with the opera mini program installed on it. I had used internet on mac and a dos pc (yes, there was a textbrowser available then, though not opera) i was surprised that you could actually browse on the phone almost like i was used to do it on pc. Some things i had done there i could do with the newest version 4.2 =>

=> and do you know that you can use opera mini on a windows pc. Rather tricky to make it work offcourse: opera mini is a java application and can be run on a simulator. So you can use opera mini to do some internet work even faster than with the browser. And safer too. It uses the same connection but a different destination than the desktop browser. It is great for going a bit unnoticed on the web. It has his limitations but still. you can run two opera's and one with another interface. lol.

Opera Mini - together since summer 2006 (check my comment: http://www.dobreprogramy.pl/Obcy-juz-wybrali-przegladarke,Aktualnosc,4285.html#komentarz_58491 ).

In autumn/fall 2008 I started the first semester as a doctorate student and as a maths teacher at my university of technology. I used Opera Mini (and Wolfram Alpha) to check (during the lessons) if our solution to some of the exercises was correct, few times.

Now I use Opera Mini for Symbian - it's so cool!

Congratulations!

I have funny story, in which Opera Mini helped out me and my friends.
Last academic year, in December 2009, just in the Christmas, me and my friends (Students of IT in Lublin, Poland) have arrived in Bergen.
Without proper internet we went to students accommodation, housing estate in Fantoft. And then we realised, that our host (Høgskolen i Bergen) is closed until new year. So we couldn't get proper vpn accounts to log into the net... so we were exploring the city discussing, playing board games, and during one of them when my lovely friend realised, that if we buy a packet of net storage, we can use internet on smartphones, we bought it, opened Opera Mobile and contacted proper person, a buddy, on the Facebook, and he gave us passwords and permission to log into the intranet and internet. It was beautiful moment... cheers;D

Congratulations on your fifth year. Its been a great experience using opera mini, i can use it anywhere, post blogs right away whenever ideas came to mind, read news and just browse. My daily subway trip became less boring.
