Welcome to My Opera Mail beta

,

From today, all My Opera accounts also have an @myopera.com e-mail address. You can try out our new mail service at https://mail.opera.com. Log in with the same user name and password you use for My Opera, Opera Link or Opera Unite.

Our goal is to make a fast and friendly mail service that is efficient and easy to use on any device, whether you prefer to access your e-mail from Opera Mini on a mobile phone, a tablet with touch interface or a desktop computer.

You can also access My Opera Mail from the messages icon on My Opera.

This is the first public release (beta) of the service. You can expect features to be refined and new ones to be added both during and after the beta period. Make sure you follow the My Opera Mail team blog for more updates. smile

I miss option to get back to my opera.

glache Thursday, April 7, 2011 11:53:08 AM

I'm assuming Opera Mail will be part of one of the drop down menus when we're logged in? @ Zdenko, just click the My Opera logo at the top LH corner.

Yikes! I read that too fast and for a second or two, "Opera Mini on" looked like "Opera Minion." http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/LOL2.gif -

Gmail time to say... lol

Could specify the 「中文」(Chinese)→「簡體中文」(Simplified Chinese)
and would Opera Mail support Traditional Chinese future?

Marek Nowickifaramir2 Thursday, April 7, 2011 1:35:50 PM

Thank you! smile. But I think, that there will be a lot of spam. Everyone can guess e-mail address and send message to it. Another problem is with Opera - after adding IMAP account of myopera account to M2, two labels appear: hasnott, hasnotd. After deleting and checking for new e-mails, labels were back.

Johan Borgborg Thursday, April 7, 2011 1:42:13 PM

@Marek: We think most e-mail addresses end up in the hands of spammers anyway, so I think of this as my public e-mail address, one where anyone can contact me (not just the spammers doh). The problem with labels has been noted, thanks!

Yes, we've just fixed that in Opera's mail client, try the latest 11.10 snapshot smile

Martin KadlecBS-Harou Thursday, April 7, 2011 2:00:58 PM

Currently you cannot use mail.opera.com if you have a - in your username. We are working on this and hope to have it fixed shortly.

Any chance that this will be fixed soon?

Hokkuthokkut Thursday, April 7, 2011 2:03:27 PM

wow cool! but slowly sad fix it please wink

Martin KadlecBS-Harou Thursday, April 7, 2011 2:23:51 PM

btw, do you have someone working on Czech translation?

r13raphweng Thursday, April 7, 2011 2:24:39 PM

Indeed feels a lot faster than GMail, web.de and all the others I have used.

The only problem I see that keeps me from switching (now or later), is that I would have to create a new account to have my-full-name@myopera.com

tormenthor Thursday, April 7, 2011 2:25:15 PM

interesting, let's see how it goes

The opera mail blog is a very quite
its amesing opera mail

MDDLMN Thursday, April 7, 2011 4:02:30 PM

Will there be the option to use different aliases with Opera Mail?
I have been waiting along time for a good IMAP Mail service thats not from Google. But I find it important to have an official mail alias thats not pinkbunny88@whatever. I can't send a job application from a MDDLMN account.

And why no dots or dashes in the accountname?

slackwrdave Friday, April 8, 2011 1:49:21 AM

At last, an e-mail domain with CLASS! king

Wesleytechwg Friday, April 8, 2011 2:30:47 AM

View headers option please. I need to be able to varify information for tracing reasons.

It's there. Select the little down arrow in the upper right, then "show original".

I like headers, too. up

Wesleytechwg Friday, April 8, 2011 2:40:17 AM

ok thanks. I guess I was not accurate enough clicking it. I thought every time I hit that arrow that it shrunk the window of the email message. I think maybe it should be a javascript or css menu or something, it is a bit difficult to be accurate.

Cutting Spoonhellspork Friday, April 8, 2011 5:13:53 AM

At a glance, it looks great! Works fast and I was already signed in!! This unified login work is paying dividends. Will definitely play with this mail account and the fresh 11.10 build; now I need to test both GMail and My.Opera.....

yousafyousaf465 Friday, April 8, 2011 5:22:09 AM

speedy and simple interface. up

One thing is missing how much space it will offer ?

Thu Winwikipedian Friday, April 8, 2011 8:27:32 AM

Why can't I sign in? It won't go to inbox page.

Is using pop3 to fetch email from my opera account enough grounds for my account to stay active? Plus what is the storage limit for the account?

Thu Winwikipedian Friday, April 8, 2011 8:36:51 AM

Google is offering 7 gb, yahoo unlimited and hotmail 5 gb. Opera got to play catchup in that aspect. I am currently use gmail. Plus speed of loading is also affected by download times. With 1 mb download speed there won't be much difference for me.
Also how about compatibility? Will it work with older browser (might I say ie6 or ie7 found on most library pcs) for example when I'm on the go.

We're starting with 1GB for now, will certainly increase. We didn't want to have all sorts of silly rules in order to offer "unlimited" storage, but expect it to grow significantly over time.

Try it out and report problems back to us if you find any, we want to have a wide coverage. IE6/7 get a simpler interface than the rest.

Thu Winwikipedian Friday, April 8, 2011 10:30:40 AM

My opera account is not logging into the web mail

nightweels Friday, April 8, 2011 11:41:57 AM
