It's a bird, it's a plane - it's 3D Opera Man!

, ,

One of the coolest new features in Opera 12 to get its own sneak preview last week at Up North Web was support for WebGL, an extension of JavaScript that allows it to render 3D graphics in a browser. To show it in action we put a serious-looking dude in a mask, gave him a belt full of weapons and sent him on a mission.... to find a t-shirt for himself.

Alas! Shopping choices are limited when you're a 3D action figure living inside a browser - even when it's Opera.wink

There is nothing more hypocritical than code recommending you upgrade to a "modern" browser because it's too outdated to recognize one.How green and clean is Opera Mini?

Now that we have WebGL in Opera, is this demo on-line somewhere so we can run it ourselves?

Wow. Very impressive. So where is the link for people to test it? Is the demo open-source as well, or will it be?

Right now this is just a "sneak peak" of what is to come... but please watch this space for more news and updates in the near future!

And... according to its creator, we may expect it in early November: http://twitter.com/#!/erikjmoller/status/124537787306356738.
