1001 Opera Extensions

, , ,

The Opera Extensions list just surpassed 1000 approved extensions. That means there are over 1000 potential new Opera features waiting to be discovered! From enhancements to your social media experience, news and blogging tools to development tools, it's all there waiting for you!

We have plans to further expand on the possibilities of extensions, from exciting new API's to new features in Opera. As we add more we see more and more crazy extensions submitted. (Though we are still waiting for an extension for petting your cat remotely.) Who knows how many we'll have at the end of the year - or what they will be?

We have done quite a few extensions highlights since the launch of Opera 11 one year ago. We use plenty of extensions ourself, but we would love to know what your favorites are! Drop us a comment with a short explanation of the one extension you can't browse without!

This Week on the Web90% off all websites!

I like vPause extension, which allows to control vKontakte audioplayer from any tab! Extremely convenient!

There is only one thing I desire: Please group the same extensions but with a different language. It looks incredibly unprofessional and quite frankly amateurish that you get a whole page filled with the same extension, but in a different language. Please group them, or at least do something about this.

Congratulations Opera.

It's hard to pick one. Here are some of my favorite.

My favourite extensions are,
shareaholic - social
WOT - security
Ghostery - Privacy
Opera AdBlock - Privacy and let's save some bandwidth as well.

So can we expect a updated addon catalog?

ErikshaktiIIIgta Friday, January 27, 2012 7:18:04 PM

THE most important for me are the tab management ones:

Tab Vault (max tabs: 99)
-https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/tab-vault/2.4.1/?display=en

Groups (no import/export opts)
-https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/groups/2.0-1/?display=en

Maybe a window management addon would be crazy, something with session switching or something...

Opera addons are really useful yes

thanks !

This is a great milestone! I had been eagerly anticipating it myself. I can't wait to see what the next 1,000 extensions bring.

Personally I'd like to see the extensions catalog updated so that extensions not approved yet can be installed (with a warning, of course). Also, I'd like to see the Opera extensions API developed further.

I love browsing through the extensions pages, hoping to find something that i hadn't discovered before!

The addons i can't live without:

Open-in-background-with-long-press (yep, that's the original name!)
-> https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/open-in-background-with-long-press/1.0.2/?display=en

Opera AdBlock
-> https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/opera-adblock/0.52/?display=en

Slim ScrollBar (autohiding scrollbars, saves a ton of space!)
-> https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/slim-scrollbar/0.8-5/?display=en

Photo Tagger (click the star on images, view them later in a gallery)
-> https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/photo-tagger/1.93/?display=en

And a funny one:

Extendtube seems to be a lesser known exension that is really good. Gives youtube many new features, way better than ones google would put in. (*cough* layout changes *cough*)

I wish that extensions which give translation in English of major European languages is provided.The present ones do not work so efficiently according to me.A translation extension which works by hovering mouse over the words or selecting the texts and which is giving Google translation would be very welcome.In the other renowned browsers such extensions are present and working efficiently.

As melhores são: ImagePreviewer, Turn Off The Ligts, 2012 Countdown, Translators e Watched videos...

Wow, I don't use any extensions coffee

Simon Burkhardjustloveopera Thursday, February 9, 2012 2:45:44 PM

Hey Opera, I just want one extension - Unity Web Player (unity3d.com)
This would make Linux more popular.
I'm using Ubuntu and I'd love to play some games based on Unity.

Unity Web Player has nothing to do with Ubuntu's Unity interface !
