This Week on the Web

Given how popular extensions in our browser for computers have become over the last year, some of our developers decided to work on extensions for mobile devices too. Now they are ready to share their efforts with a wider audience, with the release of the Opera Mobile Labs Extension build. For now this is just a trial, so we can't promise that the stable version of Opera Mobile will get extensions anytime soon. But it is an exciting preview of what might be possible in the future.
Otherwise, the big news out on other parts of the web this week was the release of Instagram for Android. Previously limited to iPhones, the super-popular photo editing and sharing app is now available for mobile phones (but not tablets) running Froyo or higher. You can get it for yourself right now.
Speaking of web phenomenons (should we say, phenomena?),we were interested to learn that, far from being "over," in any meaningful sense of the word, Angry Birds is only expanding its pop-culture footprint. The hugely popular game will now become a weekly animated series - which will, we expect, be available on all sorts of mobile devices and possibly even TV. As for the Angry Birds movie, that seems to still be a few years away.
In other words, Don't be angry - be happy!
Have a great weekend, everyone...
