Twitter Updates Its Mobile Site for More Phones

We were pleased to see that Twitter has just upgraded its mobile site to be more friendly for non-smartphone users.

Twitter says its new site is fast and light, and uses less bandwidth than the previous version. Of course, if you really want to optimize your experience, you would make sure to use Opera... just as Twitter did in the announcement.

That's great! I use Opera not only for the speed but also for saving some Megabytes of my monthly plan, and now I can stop using the twitter app while I am in 3G

I hate it. I prefer the old Twitter layout. Where's the dm? It's under your profile. Also to tweet is one step longer. I have to press the write button while in old Twitter, the box to tweet is right on the home page.

Couldnt have said it better myself, This new twitter is extremly horrible, I wish there was some way I could switch back- everything is 2 steps further- they just did it so we could use more data.

why is it not working on my nokia n8? I'm using opera mobile but mobile twitter isnt working since i updated it to symbian belle. Can anyone tell me the problem? Thank you.

don't like it - yes it looks much better but I find it very hard to believe it uses less data than the old list-type version

Also its a pain in the arse having to confirm all Retweets and Favourites - it takes ages to do this relatively - the old one didn't need a confirmation (although it often didn't work properly either).

The new one is more reliable for that.

There are some major advantages with the new one - insofar as replying to retweets which now correctly put the original tweeter as the addressee - the old version used to reply to the person who had retweeted it which caused no end of confusion.

It doesn't seem to refresh itself as effectively as the old version either.

Sometimes I wonder whether Twitter actually listens to anything users actually say. They have been particularly dismissive of comments concerning problems occurring when using Twitter with Opera on my PC - effectively brickwalling me with 'we don't support opera'... So its somewhat ironic if they truly did do their mobile tests actually using Opera...!

Staircase said everything I wanted to say, now I can say I DISLIKE this new version. When I search for a topic it loads profiles first instead of tweets. I hate that. Its whack, this version is not on point, who said we wanted to save bandwidth cos what I want is to do it quick, tweet reply re-tweet mention quick quicker fastest! Now ah got to confirm confirm confirm confirm and confirm. Haaay no! I've bookmarked the twitter web button for quick tweets, now i only wish my Opera Mini 4 could copy text cos 6's always out of memory!
