Tell Us What You Think of Smart Page

,

At the end of May, we released Opera Mini 7 with Smart Page for S60, BlackBerry and J2ME phones.

This new feature gives you a one-page overview of all your updates from Facebook and Twitter, as well as blogs, news, sports and entertainment websites.

It automatically collects updates from the sites you already follow, and suggests new ones you might be interested in as well.

Because we want Smart Page to be a useful addition to Opera Mini, we'd like to get your impressions after using it for a while. Let us know what you think of Smart Page in the comments below!

And, as always, thank you for contributing your feedback and ideas on how we can improve.

Never really used it. Switched it off so that it jumps straight to speed dials. Perhaps RSS Reader?

Can't download operamini 7 on my mobile nokia x2-01 sad

alekksander Thursday, July 26, 2012 11:29:15 AM

saw g+ and gmail on it and turned it off instantly. i don't use google services and i don't want to loose my money to see how smart page works. for me it's useless, so i don't really like it, but i'm not against it since it can be fairly easily disabled. Speed dial design is nicer though. (whole program runs smoother yes (wonder how is it performing on batery now))

Jimtoyotabedzrock Thursday, July 26, 2012 2:41:06 PM

I think there should be special double length widgets to display the same info on the desktop speeddial page.

I have a Nokia 5130 and it's too sluggish for me, so I deactivated it. Regular speed dial for me.

Like I said in a forum post, please allow my critique on some things:

  • The Social Networks pane can be better. It's actually faster to load Facebook in a new tab than waiting for 'Social Networks' to reload. Moreover, it should have the option to point to the mobile site (m.facebook.com) instead of to the desktop one. It just makes more sense - good luck with the desktop site on a 320*240 screen.
  • I'd like to be able to be able to remove some of the things in the Home tab to free up space for the rest of the stuff. I don't use GMail, G+, Opera Sports or the Mobile Store. Plus, there's Opera Store shown twice. 'My Sites' (which seems to be some sort of a summarized History) would be better on more rows.
  • Ads in 'Home'? I know this is a fund source for Opera, but no, thank you.
  • 'Suggested Links' would work better if, for example, while having highlighted an item under 'News', you can press the Left arrow to collapse the 'News' list.
  • It would be good if 'Home' could be moved to the second place, so the Speed Dial shows up firs by default.
  • It would be good if you could hold the 2 or 8 key to scroll all the way up or down on the home page instead of just one section at a time.

Good that the Home tab can be disabled, I'll probably only have the Speed Dial for now since 'Home' needs a little more work.

Prefer the speed dial - have been happy with that layout for years! Would be great if the home tab could be disabled!
