What is Next?

Lately we've been hearing from some of you who have multiple versions of Opera installed on your phones. Often at least one of these versions is Opera Mini Next. If you're not sure which one is better to use, we can explain a bit more about the difference between the regular version of Opera Mini and Opera Mini Next.

We use the "Next" versions to try out features that are being considered for a future version of Opera, but aren't final or "fully baked" yet. That means that while Opera Mini Next looks the same if you install it on your phone, it might behave differently from the finished version. In particular, it might be less stable, and prone to problems like freezing and crashing.

Why do we have Opera Mini Next?

For most people, it's better to just use the full, final and finished version of Opera. But the reason we make Opera Mini Next available is to get feedback from our advanced users, on our work in progress. If you are one of those folks, you can provide your input via the Bug Report Wizard or through our forums.

How can you check which version of Opera Mini you're using?

From the main Opera menu (select the red O), choose Help, and then About Opera. If you are on the normal version, it will say Opera Mini. If you're on Next, it will say that, as shown in the photo.

When in doubt, keep it simple and just use the regular version of Opera. You really only need one!

The funny part can be the situation, when the Next is more stable than the original Mini.

Just simply use the white Opera Next icon, as you do for desktop Opera Next, to more easily differentiate.

I really liked that one "Opera Mobile Next" - Version that introduced extensions to
the mobile browser. Adblock on your mobile is just amazing.

The only reason why I keep both versions (Next and regular) installed on my phone (I use mostly Next, reason describe above) is that I'm automatically informed about updates from the play store. Nothing more.

Man, I really hope that the extensions will make it.

I use opera mini 3 for facebook because of its awesome speed.My mobile Nokia aasha 200 is sot supported by Opera mini 7.So I am using Opera mini Next for other uses.but sometimes it will exit.Why is this happening?

Opera mini next starts fast. It continues where it stops. So, if One closes the browser with 3 open pages he expects to meet 3 pages on opening the browser from start. Its the first browser I know to do this. It taps more into the phone's resources so symbols can be pasted without making it a long process.

The only bad so far, it dosen't have a "select save page folder" feature. Too bad! For every thing else, a straight darling.

opera next is more stable than opera for mobiles.I downloaded the android version.its useless always disconnect from the web and freezes.no its not the phone.I use mini with no problem whatsoever and next.I have been using opera from version 1.It was not in English those days.you have to get it from the moderators.we come a long way.mini 5 is the best by far.but the latest always come with better features.
