The Opera Mobile Emulator is a fine tool for creating and testing responsive web designs, as explained in Andreas Boven's recent Smashing Magazine article. So it's our pleasure to announce that, today, we released version 12.1 of our Opera Mobile Emulator for Mac, Windows and Linux!
This release brings the emulator in sync with our Opera Mobile 12.1 for Android release in early October: the same standards support and feature set of course, but there is more, so please check out the Opera Developer Relations Team blog for the full update!

Bali, wayback machine, Internet archive, Balinese digital archive
The Internet Archive is a project that was started 16 years ago to create a historical record of the Web's growth and development. But this virtual library doesn't hold only web pages in its collection. It also has hundreds of thousands of movies, millions of songs - including live versions performed in concerts- along with maps, text items, software and more.
Last week, the Archive celebrated a new milestone: it has now saved 10 petabytes' worth of the web. (That's 10 to the 15th power!)
This announcement coincided with something of special interest to our friends in Indonesia: the Balinese Digital Library collection is now also part of the Internet Archive. It contains music, dance, videos - and lots of other material related to the culture of Bali.
Check out the Internet Archive today and see what kinds of new and interesting (or old and interesting!) things you can discover.

server outage, upgrades, opera mini
In order to provide you a better Opera Mini service, we are doing upgrades to our data centers over the weekend. During this time you may experience web pages that do not load. If this is the case, you can try refreshing the page to load it again.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, and we hope to have this issue sorted out as soon as possible, so you can get back on track with Opera Mini.

pumpkin carving, photo contest, jack o lantern, halloween
One of our missions here at Opera is to deliver the best Internet experience on any device and any platform. We've put our browser on all sorts of devices to date and now we want you to put Opera on a pumpkin. A Halloween pumpkin, that is, which means your task is to come up with a jack-Opera-lantern.
You could use the O in our logo and beyond that, it's up to you to how clever you can put Opera and Halloween together - but we do welcome all pumpkin carvings!
All you need is:
- A pumpkin (or any other type of gourd or vegetable with a hard shell that you could hollow out.
- Some kind of carving tool.
- A way to take a picture of your creation and send it to us.
Once you've done all that, make sure to use this link to upload your photos directly to our contest website.
The last day to submit your entry will be on Friday November 2nd. An Opera jury will then go through all the submissions and pick a minimum of lucky 13 winners who will win an Opera treat bag! We'll announce the winners the following week.

Yesterday we released an update of Opera Mini for iPhone and iPad (iOS). You can download the new Opera Mini for iPad and iPhone today from the App Store. Feel free to rate and give us your review if you try it! We're eager to hear what you think about the update.
