Opera 10 Beta 2

, , , ...

Today we released Opera 10 Beta 2. This beta contains updates to the skin and icons by Jon Hicks and a new little secret you might be able to find if you are unable to find the page you are looking for

This Beta does not contain Opera Unite as that was released as a Labs snapshot and not as a beta. If you take a look at the banner up top you can see that the labs build will merge with the current Beta to create the upcoming Opera 10! Opera Unite is still being worked on, so have no fear!

The desktop crew wants to thank all of you for submitting through the new Automated Crash Reporting tool. By helping us you are improving the stability of Opera so that Opera 10 can be the most stable browser ever!

It is the first public release of the Presto 2.2 rendering engine, which will be present in Opera 10, made available so you can start trying out some of the new web technology support. You need to use the Opera 10 alpha build to access the below examples, otherwise they won't work.

Opera Mini 4.2

Good news, everyone! Today we have released the latest version of Opera Mini 4.2. Since the launch of the beta, speed trials have shown that this version gives more than 30% speed improvements for users in the US, due to addition of a new Opera Mini server park in ther United States.

This release also marks Opera Mini’s official availability on the latest version of the Android mobile platform. Opera Mini is now the first Web browser alternative on Android. A technical preview of Opera Mini was previously released for an earlier version of Android in April 2008. Users of Android-powered mobile phones, such as the T-Mobile G1, can now download a beta version of Opera Mini 4.2 and experience a faster and less costly way to browse the full Internet.

To celebrate we feel a visual power demonstration is needed. Enjoy our latest video we've made to launch the world's fastest browser for your mobile phone:

An e-card is an electronic post card. These new Opera Mini comics demonstrates a few "real life" scenarios where Opera Mini comes in handy. Sending an e-card from My Opera is very easy. Head over to the photo albums, choose a cartoon you like and click "Send as e-card". We suggest you try the new Opera Mini frame for these e-cards. :D
