Our purpose (part 1 of 2)

Hi! My name is Lawrence Eng, and I go by Lawmune on MyOpera. I do market research and outreach for Opera Software, and some of you may know me from the MyOpera forums or my blog.
Thanks for checking out Choose Opera. If you haven't already, please consider joining this group.
What is this group all about, and who is it for?
As stated in the welcome post, this MyOpera group is for Opera fans to get together, brainstorm, plan, and complete projects to promote the Opera browser. Participation in this group is completely voluntary. If promoting Opera is something you don't want to do in your spare time, this group probably isn't for you and we won't take it personally. On the other hand, if you're a passionate Opera fan who has been waiting patiently for the chance to let the world know about your favorite browser, we're here to support you.

So far, most discussions about promoting Opera have occurred on the Take Action forum. For awhile now, that forum has been a bit inactive and somewhat unfocused, especially since the Open the Web and Take Action forums were merged. A lot of ideas have been discussed, but only on a few occasions have people actually completed any projects or shared their results with each other, mostly because the forum setup has never been so good for that kind of thing.
On this group, we're going to put an emphasis not only on brainstorming fun and exciting ideas, but working together to make them a reality, and give you all a chance to show off your hard work. Most importantly, Opera employees (such as myself) will actively participate in this group to make sure that you're getting all the resources and official support you need to be successful. (For example, if you want to host an Opera fan event and want to give out Opera freebies, let us know and we can probably send you some).
For now, Vyoma and I will be the moderators, but as soon as we can, we'll hand over administration of this group to you guys. We want to keep things as democratic as possible. Also, this is a pilot program; based on how successful we are here, we may create an even more full-featured site for Opera fans. Tell your friends about Choose Opera and invite them to be members. Maybe we're biased, but we think that Opera fans are some of the coolest people in the world, and the world has waited long enough to hear you speak as a powerful collective.
